The end of summer. Spent August back in San Jose with my nieces. I got to be there for their first day of summer camp and Lily’s first day of kindergarten. The rest of the time we swam, went on coffee dates, got new toys and just spent as much time as possible with each other. Came back to The Netherlands exhausted but with a full heart. taken in San Jose, California by @chitown_brigs

We took a day trip to Utrecht (4th largest city in NL) and fell in love instantly. We planned to spend the afternoon at the Centraal Museum but being a Saturday it was too crowded. Ended up walking the city center without an agenda and had the best time. Pic deets below!

3. The largest brick building in the NL. The UFO art lights up at night
4-7. The Dom Tower & Domkerk (St. Martin’s Cathedral). Talk about a proper gothic cathedral! The building and grounds are gorgeous, I didn’t want to leave. Construction started in 1254 and was completed in 1517.
8-9. Found front row seating at a bar (in the shade) in the lower canal. Felt like winning the lottery
10. The people watching here was amazing. My favorite had to be a group of kayakers that balanced stemmed beer glasses and charcuterie boards on their boats.

Today we successfully rented a car(which are all manual, btw), drove to IKEA, Kelly’s expats (grocery store with American items) and back home again. The amount of first experiences we’ve had in the last 3 weeks is wild. Every day there’s something that breaks our brains but today went smooth. Plus I found an American Diet Coke! Throw back to April when my son @rip.ritzy & one of my besties @nessamp came to visit us in Chicago. House was under contract so I sent them home with so much of our stuff that we weren’t planning to bring overseas. Spent the long weekend tracking the Artemis II mission, drinking margaritas and watching space themed movies. 🚀🛰️💙 taken in Chicago, Illinois by @chitown_brigs

It’s been almost 2 weeks since leaving Chicago and building a new life in The Netherlands. Andy and I sold, rehoused, donated 99% of everything we owned. Only left with 6 suitcases, 3 boxes and a bike. Building a new life in a new country is hands down the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Not a day has gone by where I didn’t ask myself “what the hell did I do?!”. But every day gets a little easier and familiar. And as far as a new city goes, Leiden is pretty magical. ✨💙.

Trent’s visit to Chicago lined up perfectly with negative degree weather. So we ate our way through the city, bundled up & watched movies and caught up on sleep. Celebratory dinner out at RPM steakhouse to celebrate Andy graduating & getting his masters degree in clinical mental health counseling and Trent becoming an air traffic control man in the Air Force. Very proud of my men. ❤️🥂.

My son passed his final certification this past Wednesday, on his 25th birthday. You’re looking at one of the newest Air traffic controlman in the US Air Force! I couldn’t be more proud. 👏🏽🎉❤️ taken in Vance Air Force Base, Oklahoma by @chitown_brigs
