✨ FIRST TIME AT MATILDA ✨

A dinner with friends, a five-course tasting menu, and cocktails that understood the assignment. 💋

Finally tried @matilda.chicago in River North, where Mexican and Peruvian flavors come together for a fun, elevated dining experience. We went all in on the tasting menu, and here’s what was on the table 👇

🍽️ THE TASTING MENU

🐚 COURSE 1: Conchas Marisqueras — Baja Style
Scallops, octopus & white fish with salsa negra, lime and smoked sea salt. A fresh, ocean-inspired start.

🐟 COURSE 2: Ceviche de Pescado
Fresh catch in ají amarillo leche de tigre, with sweet potato, choclo corn & crispy calamari. Bright, citrusy and full of flavor.

🍌 COURSE 3: Sweet Plantain & Chorizo
Crispy plantains, Cotija cheese fondue, chorizo & honey-truffle. Sweet, savory and a little indulgent.

🥩 COURSE 4: Cheek Birria — 10 Hours
My main! Slow-braised beef cheek with guajillo chile, cinnamon, clove & roasted spices. Rich, deeply spiced comfort food. 🤌

🌽 COURSE 5: Elote Quemado
Sweet corn cake with a brûléed crust, cajeta foam & corn ash. A creative, caramelized finish to the meal.

🍸 THE COCKTAIL: BE MINE – PASIÓN
Pisco Quebranta, passion fruit, lime, pimiento dram & egg white. Tropical, bright and slightly floral — the perfect sip to kick off dinner. 💘

Overall, Matilda made for a great group dinner, with a menu that takes you through a variety of flavors and textures. Definitely one to keep on the list for your next River North dinner plans!

Just visited the new spot from the @bokarestaurantgroup in River North, and every dish brought something different to the table.

🍤 Tempura Rock Shrimp Handroll Set — crispy, fresh, and the perfect start
🍚 Black Truffle Tofu Rice — savory, rich, and full of flavor
🥩 NY Strip — a classic done right
🍸 Currant Cucumber Spritz — refreshing with the perfect cocktail-hour vibes
🍯 Honey Meringue — THE dessert. Light, delicate, and so unique. Honestly, I’m still thinking about this one. If there’s one thing you order, make it the honey meringue. Unexpected, memorable, and the kind of dessert you wish you could have all over again.

A feast at @armitagealehouse with the best company 🥂🍽️

We went all in—from silky steak tartare and golden, crispy fish & chips to samosas, a smoked-trout Caesar, and the ultimate comfort dish: steak & ale pot pie. The cheeseburger made its way to the table too, because apparently restraint wasn’t on the menu. 😌

And for dessert? Sticky date cake with brown butter gelato and sorbet to sweeten the night. A seriously delicious spread, best enjoyed around a table with friends. ✨

Happy hour done right 🍸🏮

Finally checked out @ninebarchicago in Chinatown and now I get the hype. Tucked behind @moonpalaceexpress this neon-lit cocktail hideaway delivers on both vibes and drinks, plus a happy hour menu that’s actually worth showing up early for.

Not too surprising that Nine Bar recently landed at #76 on North America’s 51-100 Best Bars list—Chicago’s cocktail scene keeps proving why it’s one of the best in the game. Cheers to finding another spot I’ll definitely be back to. ✨

Chicago loves candy indeed, and what a TREAT it is to have @lil.sweet.treat in Fulton Market.

Known for their wide variety of globally sourced sweets, including unique gummies, sour candies, and chocolates from countries like Belgium, Sweden, and the Czech Republic, there is something for everyone to try! Some of my favorites were the champagne bears, tutti frutti bubs, and tangy melon chews. 😋🍬🍭

Finally checked @auchevaldiner off my Chicago foodie list 🍔✨

Ordered the Kale Caesar, single cheeseburger + bacon, crispy fries, and General Jane’s Honey Fried Chicken… and wow, I get the hype now. The burger was ridiculously juicy, the bacon deserved its own spotlight, the fries were indulgent in the best way, and that honey fried chicken brought the perfect sweet + spicy kick. Even the salad held its own.

Safe to say… first visit won’t be the last.

Tried the $60 Pizza Tasting Menu at @liarivernorth which leans into Chicago thin crust with a chef-driven tasting experience. This was not your average pizza night: think elevated tavern-style pies, fun flavor combos, and enough food to make you question every “just a little dinner” plan.

THE MENU 👇

🥢 Starters
• Fried Mozzarella Stick — mozzarella sticks + tomato sauce + garlic & truffle aioli
• Prosciutto Bruschetta — lemon mascarpone + shaved fennel
• The Small “Chopped Salad” — shaved iceberg, Italian dressing & “tons of stuff”

🍕 Tavern Style Pizzzzzzza’s
• Wild Forest — garlic cream, wild mushrooms, goat cheese, truffle oil & basil
• The Taco Stand — tomato sauce, mole chicken, black beans, crema, avocado & cilantro
• Roasted Bacon — tomato sauce, chai, coconut milk & fennel

@allegory_dc absolutely lives up to the hype as one of North America’s best bars, consistently being ranked by @50bestbars 🍸🍹. We tried the Bluest Eye, Mardi Gras, and another cocktail with root beer notes that stole the show.

Creative, immersive, and probably one of the most memorable cocktail experiences I’ve had in a while.
