Watch with the sound on—then tell us who you’d NEVER sit next to! 🤣

Hand-Sculpted and Hand-Painted Ceramic Art Object.
•
My background in drawing and figurative painting has always influenced the way I approach ceramics. Rather than treating the ceramic form and the painted image as separate elements, I try to create sculptural surfaces that become a natural canvas for my figurative work.
•
This hand-sculpted ceramic piece stands approximately 25 cm tall and was designed with two distinct painted surfaces.
•
On the convex front, I painted a group of five women, using underglazes to integrate the figures directly into the form of the sculpture. The reverse features a recessed, concave area containing a single dark-haired woman, framed by the hand-worked ceramic surface.
•
For me, pieces like this are a way of bringing together sculpture, drawing, painting, and ceramics in a single object. The irregular handmade form is an important part of the work, giving the painted figures a physical presence that a flat surface cannot provide. by @chkaufman
