🚨Upcoming concert in NYC! 🚨 Thurs, July 24 at Church of the Heavenly RestEvelyn Saylor has been a CHR parishioner and choir member since she was a child, and has been working in Berlin as a composer and vocalist for the past 12 years. Her music for voices and live electronics showcases virtuosic singing, rich and unexpected harmonies, rhythmic interest and variety in vocal textures.Resident Advisor describes her piece “Fantas Variation for Voices”, released by Editions Mego, as “featuring a backing choir of celestial singers ... singing a sublime hymn. Their repetitive yet constantly shifting tones remind me of the work of minimalists like Philip Glass and Steve Reich, or computer music pioneer Laurie Spiegel.” Saylor also composes music for modern dance, theater, and film. As part of the exhibition ‘ReComposition: Art + Science for Earth’, Saylor will present her work in a concert, her second in New York City. She will be joined by singers @chloe__holgate @lydia_saylor and @myra.fowlkes.smith . The program will include solo and duo works for voices and live electronics as well as works for a cappella vocal ensemble.Timetable:5:00 pm – Pre-concert reception in the Undercroft Gallery with artists and scientists involved in the exhibition ‘ReComposition: Art + Science for Earth’6:00 pm – Audiovisual installation ‘Sulfur and Arsenic’ in the Chapel.
