Y’all still can’t believe this happened last night!!!

So I pulled up to @LaRussell show in Denver last night and got to get on stage and spit!!!

I intended to do my Kanye Spaceship verse where I reference him, ya girl got on that stage, seen him and his team hypin me up, forgot to say ‘I could see it clear as clear as 8k’ (the next line) and just started to freestyle. Y’all I be so brilliant and so dumb at the same damn time, apparently. Lmaoooo! The freestyle was iight, better than chokin but I’m a lil sad I didn’t do the verse for him in front of him! Lol!

But, what a moment!!! What a team! What a guy!!!! A core memory for sure!!!!

To be in THAT moment I know I blanked and started freestylin because my brain was equal parts like show up and show out BUT my mind was also very conscious that I was living my pergola dream in that moment too! Woah *in my Joey from Blossom voice

Just… Wow!

Crazy cause I was JUST talkin about forgetting the “how it will happen” on this week’s #MondayMorningMantra and then got to experience the pergola and frickin freestyle with LaRussell AND rep my birthplace The Bay Area here in CO! Lordamercy!!! My lil sis Osha got on stage too and had me fan girlin!!! Plus, I went to my girl She’s event Inner Circle after the concert and redeemed myself and did the verse, so I’ll post it and tag LaRussell! Hopefully he’ll see it!

He (him and his team) are SUCH an inspiration to me. The moves they’re making, how they’re shifting the music industry, and essentially Black art and ownership in intellectual properties is POWERFUL!

Brotha doesn’t just inspire me cause he makes dope music, but even moreso his business acumen, but what I learned last night, seeing him live, brotha be outchea preachin too!

And to think, I wasn’t gonna go because I was doing my son’s hair all afternoon and barely had time to get ready. Plus, I thought I’d be too late and miss too much of the show! Look at God, y’all!

I don’t know what it is about grief that makes me hyper creative, but it makes me hyper creative.

It’s like I physically have to memorialize the person or situation to wrap my head around it. Write a song, make a tarot card, pick up some clay. The first was my Auntie Ontreal, she had a legendary Black collectibles collection, so it was only right she became one too. So naturally,I had to do one for him too.

I delighted sitting with my Uncle’s spirit and memories making this! We had some good laughs, listening to Marvin. I could literally hear him laughing at this Bob’s burger looking version of himself and the fact that I had to use a reference my favorite picture of him from his 80s cowboy era. Sad the hat, boots, and wings cracked in the oven. But, I know, he loves it!

The perfect way to channel and process! RIP Uncle Ben
