Lofti Akalay a dit, Tanger c’est une ville ouverte à tout, y compris à moi-même. La ville me parle et elle ne dit pas de bêtises. Tanger me rappelle que j’existe. taken in Tanger طنجة by @chloecci_

One morning, a few months ago, I drove west out of Cairo and ended up in Al Qasr, in the Dakhla Oasis. One of the oldest inhabited villages in Egypt, built around the 12th century during the Ayyubid period, and still standing without ever feeling frozen. You walk through narrow mudbrick alleys, under low wooden beams, past doors carved with names, dates, fragments of lives that never really left.

Everything here feels resolved. The walls are thick, slightly tilted to let air move through the village. Above the doors, thoses wooden planks carry poems instead of numbers. Roofs are braided from palm, holding shade more than structure. It wasn’t designed to be beautiful, it was built to work, and somehow, that’s enough.
If you close your eyes for a minute you can feel the city still alive, the smell of food drifting down from the kitchens, the rhythm of wood being carved nearby, a shisha bubbling somewhere to your left, and the quiet sense of being watched from behind a moucharabieh above.

Al qasr was definetly one of my most memorable stop in my quest of the western egyptien desert by @chloecci_

The desert never repeats itself, and it’s probably the reason why I keep going back.
My most repeated trip since I arrived in Egypt, and somehow, I’m still not over it.
