POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I’ve known Susan for half of my life.

When I first knew I wanted to work in music and started shooting shows as I teenager, she was in the pit. I watched her from afar, in awe, hoping I’d one day be half as cool and talented as her.

We became colleagues a couple of years later and were in touch by way of work every week for months on end. She was passionate, curious, talented, unruly, and an absolute badass. Everything I imagined she’d be and more when I was sixteen.

Susan my colleague turned into Susan my friend, and for the last 10 or so years, she shared her stories, her passion for music and art and life, and so much more with me. She flipped me off at every chance she got too.

When we stopped being colleagues, we stayed friends and grew closer. We started going on walks, coffee dates, ice cream runs, you name it, sometimes only for 10 minutes before or after dropping off some film at Photo St-Denis. She was a staple in my life. When I felt lost about my career and my life, she listened to me, reminded me of all the things I had accomplished, made me laugh, she encouraged me, has kept championing me from afar, and for that I am so privileged.

I’m not unique - Moss was like that with anyone who was lucky enough to call her a friend. An absolute fucking legend. Everyone has a story about how she has positively impacted their lives.

The last time I saw her was in the pit at a Jacob Banks show in January. We were both so stoked to be there cause he’s so hot and talented.

Susan, you were the breastest.

Montréal, its festivals and venues, the Plateau, will never be the same without you. I am so lucky to have known you and loved you, and so completely devastated that life took you from us so soon.

most blissfull time returning to one of my favourite countries for ten days of empty beaches, the most delicious food, no phone service & complete disconnection, long walks chasing seashells & observing wild birds between the sea & the nature preserve🦩🐚☀️ taken in El Cuyo by @chloeelsayegh
