39 years in this thing of ours! Deepest gratitude for those who made this journey with me, those who built a bridge for us, and the friends we’ve met along the way! For those in the know, join me in wishing a Happy QUEversary to Spr ‘87 of the Mighty Tau Psi Chapter, The Ten Commandments of the Noble One.

Each year, the March of Victory brings us together to honor our ancestors, victims of slavery, as we walk from the Door of No Return to the Memorial Square.

“My family history reflects this deep memory: I descend from a woman who was captured and sold in Ouidah, as well as from a Portuguese slave trader ancestor. This dual heritage fills me with complex emotions and reinforces the importance of forgiveness and reconciliation.” -Martine de Souza

“During the ceremony, the head of the de SOUZA family asks for forgiveness from all communities and calls for unity. Together, we celebrate the courage and legacy of our ancestors, affirming that memory is a strength guiding us toward a future of peace. In the memory of our heritage, together with the middle passage institute we are building up a partnership with association to have an institute of cultural exchange in Ouidah(Benin). We are training also Vodoun priestesses and are willing to share some explanations with you.” -Martine de Souza
