Graphic novels can be a bit of a Marmite book genre! But if you’re on Team Hate, here’s why you should give these comic style books a try…

🤩 You want them to read for pleasure? Then let them read books that make them laugh and bring them joy 🤩

👀 The combination of rich visuals and text engages both the visual and verbals sides of the brain, helping the reader to develop good visual literacy 👀

👏 Graphic novels are excellent for boosting reading confidence, which is great for all, but especially for reluctant readers. Don’t underestimate the confidence boost of being able to finish a whole book by yourself! 👏

🔎 Your little reader will become a reading detective as they interpret text and visual clues to interpret the meaning 🔍

📚 Reading graphic novels is a superb way of building the habit of reading…of building that routine of picking up a book and choosing to dive into an adventure through the pages of a book 📚

If you know ANY child who loves animal stories, you MUST buy them this. Buy it for their birthday, buy it for Christmas or just buy it as a ‘Back to School’ present. Just make sure you BUY it!

Raising Hare is a classic in the making, the true story of a woman who rescued a newborn baby hare, raising it until it was time to return it to the wild.

I don’t generally get our lovely Christmas books out until a little later. But I had to make an exception for his AMAZING Bizzy Bear Advent Calendar. Behind each door is the cutest teeny-tiniest little board book - perfect to enjoy with a special little one every day in the lead-up to Christmas.

I’m very sure they’ll sell out, so quickly nip in and grab one! When they’re done, they’re gone!

Bob and Archie, our fave superhero koalas, are back in Koalas in Capes: The Robot Spiders. And it’s a very good thing too, as evil giant ostrich, Dr Colossus, has also returned. Expect hilarious puns, adventure, mayhem and fabulous illustrations from author Terrie Chilvers and illustrator David O’Connell.

Often, I read a book and move on and forget about it as soon as I’ve finished. But, sometimes, just sometimes, I read a book that lives with me forever. A book that I wish that I could read again for the very first time.
