hey. i’ve seen these images all over in memes and on merch and stuff and wanted to make a little video for posterity on the fact that i created them.

i weaved the headpiece, posed for the photos, and edited them back in 2022. i had only posted them on instagram and never really thought they’d make it outside my bubble of followers at the time. I did this as a personal project and to this day have never sold this specific piece (tho I have made replicas), nor licensed/given permission for the photos to be used in anyway. I made shirts and stuff of them once, but they didn’t sell well so I don’t really offer them anymore.

it’s been weird seeing these images randomly pop up all over. sometimes my friends or followes see them and let me know, but I’m sure there are plenty of instances I haven’t seen before.

it’s still really weird, but I know I can’t do anything about it now and part of me is proud people find these images inspiring. if youmve enjoyed them yourself, I’d love it if you supported my other work, as I have plenty of pieces like this (mostly on insta) and would love to keep doing it. thanks for listening!!

i know there’s nothing i can do about this. I accepted a good while ago that I can’t control what happens to these images anymore, after they got put up on Pinterest somehow and started popping up on people’s merch and memes. And while I was confident that AI probably couldn’t reproduce these images or adequately steal my visual style, part of me knew I wasn’t safe from it and now I see the loophole: “animation”. Lmao.

I genuinely feel a bit sick right now, as I despise very few things as much as I hate generative AI. And when it’s my art that was used whether knowingly or not, it genuinely hurts a bit. My skin will thicken to this, I’m sure, as I know like with meme accounts and merch brands for every one or two that’s brought to my attention by a mutual or follower, there are like 5 more i don’t know about and more to come. This is just a new wound, but I have to get used to it. And it sucks that I have to.

on a whinier note it sucks that posts and items I work hard on never get seen and this plagiaristic slop can get thousands of likes in a day. It’s so petty and kinda useless for me to be envious of that (because I am in a way), but it’s the feeling that arises while I struggle with real life goals and can’t even get my own consarned home yet after years of trying. I’m gonna keep going because I have to, but PSA for anyone seeing this who for some reason needs to hear it: AI is terlet dookie. Don’t do it. Don’t use art from Pinterest because it probably belongs to somebody. That’s it.

*edit: also i typed this in such a flurry i forgot to post the headpiece (i think the third chainmail image stolen in the video) is my creation too, just people stealing that is relatively recent—i’ve seen it happen once before on tiktok
