A little closer look 👀✨ We definitely got schooled on this particular starter—Sivínche (Ceviche)! Not only was it delicious and incredibly fresh, but we also got to learn more about the dish, its preparation, and its Peruvian roots. 🇵🇪❤️

Part 1 of my Warique adventure 🇵🇪❤️

Tucked away in the town of Belleville, NJ, Warique is more than just a restaurant—it has that warm, homey feeling that immediately makes you feel welcome.

From the Peruvian decorations and family photos throughout the space to the comforting aromas of fresh ingredients, you can feel the heart and passion behind this place. The chef, Roberto Carnero, is a Belleville native, and there’s a genuine sense of pride in his Peruvian heritage. It’s reflected in the atmosphere and the story of Warique.

Before we get into the food, I wanted to take a moment to show you the place and share a little bit about what makes Warique special. There’s a story here, and it’s one I’m excited to share. 🇵🇪✨

🍩 Eighty-8 Donuts! 🍩

This spot came highly recommended by the locals in Portland, Maine, so of course the hubby and I had to check it out!

And if you know my husband, you know he’s a serious donut connoisseur, he LOVES his donuts! 😂 So we had to put this place to the test. We tried the Cinnamon Sugar Donuts and the Lemon Zinger, a lemon-glazed donut with a delicious raspberry center. Both were SO yummy!

Safe to say, the donut expert approved! 🙌🍩
If you’re in the Portland area, definitely add Eighty-8 Donuts to your list! You won’t regret it! 🤤

The 130 Shop! Earlier this month, the hubby and I finally checked this place out for lunch, and WOW… everything was so delicious!

We started with the buttermilk chicken sandwich—moist, flavorful, and perfectly crispy! My husband’s favorite was the meatball sandwich, which was packed with flavor. We also had to try their famous French dip, loaded with shaved ribeye, and of course, the crispy tater tots! 🔥

I just wish we had bigger stomachs because there was so much more on the menu we wanted to try! 😂

Needless to say, we’ll definitely be going back! If you’re in the area, The 130 Shop is definitely worth a stop!

🍕 Bivio Pizza Napoletana... WOW! 🇮🇹❤️

If you're looking for authentic Neapolitan pizza, this place is definitely worth a visit. The crust is perfectly light and airy, the ingredients are incredibly fresh, and every bite is packed with flavor. 🤤🔥

The Love Point oysters on the half shell... phenomenal! 🦪✨ Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented on top of marbles that made the experience even more fun.

The grilled oysters with kelp butter, shiro dashi pearls, and pickled green apple were an absolute standout—rich, briny, and perfectly balanced.

If you're in the area, definitely check out Bread & Friends. The food did not disappoint, and these oysters alone are worth the visit! 🤍

Lobster ice cream?! 🦞🍦 Of course I had to try it while vacationing in Maine!

I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was actually... not bad! The ice cream has a rich, buttery base with real chunks of buttered lobster mixed throughout. You can definitely see and taste the lobster, but the overall flavor is more like a savory, buttery vanilla than anything fishy.

I'm so glad I gave it a try! It was definitely one of the most unique ice cream flavors I've ever had.

Hot weather = ice cream season. 🍦☀️ I'm always on the hunt for a great scoop (and let's be honest...any excuse to grab a sweet treat). These are three spots I tried for the first time this year, and I'd definitely go back.

Boza (Lyndhurst, NJ)
This small-batch micro creamery makes everything in-house, from the ice cream to the donuts and baked goods. I had to order my forever favorite, Mint Chocolate Chip, and it did not disappoint. Super creamy, perfectly balanced, and not overly sweet with just the right amount of mint. A solid classic done really well.

Trina's Sweet Boutique & Ice Cream Parlor (Lyndhurst, NJ)
If you're a dessert lover, this place is dangerous! They serve homemade ice cream, gourmet milkshakes, waffles, cookie sandwiches, brownie sundaes, homemade waffle cones, ice cream cannolis, cakes, pies...basically everything. Their flavors rotate weekly, and I lucked out with Nutella Oreo. Rich, ultra-creamy, and loaded with Nutella and Oreo in every bite. It was so good I completely forgot to take a picture before finishing it. 😅

OddFellows Ice Cream Co. (Montclair, NJ)
Known for making everything from scratch with locally sourced dairy and creating fun, chef-inspired flavors, OddFellows definitely lives up to the hype. I went with the Blueberry ice cream, and wow...the blueberry flavor was bold, fresh, and tasted like real fruit instead of artificial syrup. So simple, yet so good.

Bar Mutz! I've been here twice, and each visit has been a great experience. From the fun, colorful atmosphere to the delicious and creative menu, it's definitely a place to have a good time.

The house-made pasta is outstanding, and the cocktails are both fun and flavorful. As for dessert, wow! The Butter Cake with vanilla gelato, fresh berries, and zabaglione sauce is one of my absolute favorites. And don't skip the fresh-made mozzarella, it's a must-try.

The staff are friendly, attentive, and provide excellent service, which makes the experience even better. If you're looking for unique Italian dishes, amazing fresh mozzarella, tasty cocktails, and a vibe that includes 90s and 2000s hip-hop music, Bar Mutz is definitely worth a visit.
