The annual Fremont Festival of the Arts is just around the corner, happening next week on August 1-2 from 10 am to 6 pm on closed sections of Paseo Padre Parkway, Capitol Avenue, and the Downtown Event Center Plaza! Enjoy local art, live music, and gourmet food and drinks while strolling with friends and family.

It was an honor to join Agility Robotics in celebrating the Grand Opening of their new 60,000-square-foot Fremont facility, marking another exciting milestone in Fremont’s innovation story.

Agility Robotics is helping shape the future of robotics with Digit, a humanoid robot designed to work alongside people by taking on repetitive and physically demanding tasks, improving workplace safety while supporting businesses facing workforce challenges.

This investment will create new jobs in Fremont and further strengthen our city’s leadership in artificial intelligence, robotics, and advanced manufacturing.

Have you noticed a little red robot cruising around Fremont? That’s Dot, DoorDash’s new all-electric autonomous delivery robot, built right here in Fremont!

You may see Dot traveling through parts of the city as part of a phased rollout. During this phase, Dot is helping map local streets and create a real-time 3D view of the environment to support safe navigation around pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles. Trained operators accompany the robots as they test and engage with the community.

Based on the results of the pilot and community feedback, an amended permit could allow the robots to operate autonomously within the service area, including Downtown/City Center, Centerville, and Irvington, with the option to operate remotely as needed.

Dot is designed to help deliver orders from local restaurants while safely traveling on neighborhood streets, bike lanes, and sidewalks. This partnership highlights Fremont’s leadership in advanced robotics while exploring new ways to support local restaurants and our community.

As the program expands, the City will continue to monitor safety and gather community feedback.

We recently celebrated the groundbreaking of the LS Power Grid California: Power the Bay Project, marking a major investment in regional energy reliability and growth across the South Bay and Fremont.

The project will deliver 1,000 megawatts of new transmission capacity (the equivalent of serving approximately 750,000 homes), support 300 union construction jobs, generate over $650 million in long-term tax revenue for the region, and bring needed electricity to the region to help support vehicle and building electrification.

Beyond energy, it brings lasting community benefits, including six miles of fiber-optic conduit supporting Fremont’s future broadband network and a $2.5 million contribution toward the Central Park Community Center.

This milestone reflects the power of strong public-private collaboration to deliver transformative infrastructure that will strengthen energy reliability, support future growth, advance climate action efforts, and create lasting benefits for communities across the region. The 4th Annual Fremont Restaurant Week was a tremendous success! With 70 local restaurants participating, the event highlighted the remarkable diversity of Fremont’s dining scene.

📌 Highlights from the marketing campaign:
- 8,000 Passports distributed
- I-880 North digital billboard: 1.7 million impressions
- Facebook and Instagram reach: 500,000+ impressions
- 130,000+ website visits
- Coverage from 19 local news outlets

Feedback from restaurants:
- 91% reported increased foot traffic and revenue
- 100% expressed their intention to participate again
- Visitation rose an average of 50% over their 12-month baseline.
