We had a fantastic time at the annual Land O’ Lakes District Convention this weekend in Minneapolis! Though we didn’t compete, we had the pleasure of singing on the Association of District Champions show and in the hospitality rooms at the Saturday night afterglow. Also, we would like to give our bass, Scott, a special shoutout as he directed @journeymenchorus22 to a district championship in their first ever competition. The chorus scored an 85.8 and qualified to compete at the International @barbershopharmonysociety contest in Minneapolis in July! What a great weekend to be a barbershopper! 💈 by @chordsmash

CHORD SMASH! is a proud sponsor of the Barbershop Harmony Open Golf Tournament! We believe strongly in the beneficiaries, and are happy to support this cause! Fun Fact: Our lead, Erik Eliason, has ties to the very beginning of this tournament, as his father, Mel Eliason, was a member of the quartet “HarmonyWorks” that originally started this tournament many years ago. Also, though none of us were able to play the tournament this year, Scott’s son Silas signed up to play the tournament. Even better, he brought along another dual member of the high school choir tenor section and high school golf team! Have a blast, everyone! 💈⛳️🏌️‍♂️🏌️🎵💸 by @chordsmash

Enjoy our debut of a fun new chart of “Stickshifts and Safetybelts” by the band Cake, arranged by none other than our very own Erik Eliason! Who knew Cake would ‘shop?!? #barbershopquartet #cake #landolakesdistrict #acapellamusic #acapella by @chordsmash

One of the best parts of our weekend at the Land O’ Lakes District Convention was seeing our very own baritone, James Estes, inducted into the Land O’ Lakes District Hall of Fame! 🏅

We can’t think of anyone more deserving — James’s impact on our district (and the barbershop world) is simply incredible. Check out just a few of his accomplishments:

🎤 3-time Land O’ Lakes District Quartet Champion (Voices Only, CHORD SMASH, Chill Factor)
🏆 District VP of Contest & Judging
🎶 One of the longest-tenured Singing Category judges in the entire Society
👏 Highly sought-after quartet and chorus coach
🎓 Former Music Education staff member for the Barbershop Harmony Society
💙 Dedicated volunteer for the Wisconsin High School Quartet Festival

James, your leadership, musicianship, and passion continue to inspire all of us. We’re so proud to sing beside you — congratulations on this well-earned honor! 🙌🎵
