Buakaw known to be one of the best in the Golden Era (90’s) of Muaythai the likes of Saenchai, Dany Bill, Ramon Dekkers.. Who knows, knows the legends of those times. Wouldn’t you watch Dany Bill vs Buakaw like now, I would 10000000% 🤩Dream aside….. As a Sports Performance Coach, I can’t be biased, have none of my own preferences or opinion without strict & meticulous comparison. Roundhouse kicks data’s are speed of delivery, power, ability to defend from punches, return to the stance or reset and the possibility quickly to re-attack. Guess what…. No pivot won every time because of the science 🧪 behind it & it’s very comparable to a slap 🫠 Had shared footage of his work before but thanks Matt to do send me this reinforcing one.#muaythai #legends #technique #sportsperformance #analysis by @chris_moninga

Your chin has an expiration date. Stop leaving it in the gym. 🩸Toughness and heart are prerequisites to be a fighter. They are not a game plan.If your entire strategy for your next fight relies on you being tougher, faster,or hitting harder than the guy across from you… you are playing Russian Roulettewith your career. You are flipping a coin and hoping for the best.Elite champions don’t gamble. They execute. While amateurs are busy accumulating brain damage in Friday night sparring wars, the pros are in the lab. They are analyzing tape. They are studying weightdistribution, finding the micro-tells, and mapping out the exact geometric trapsthat will force their opponent to make a fatal mistake. You don’t need to be the strongest guy in the cage if you are already two stepsahead of his nervous system.Stop preparing to survive a brawl. Start preparing to systematically dismantleyour opponent. If you have a fight officially booked and you want me to build your tacticaltrap:👉 Comment the word « CHIN » below.I’ll send you my free guide with a few of my most useful tips for your next sparring, and see if you apply for my 1-on-1 Elite Fight Camp. Brawlers want a dogfight. They want you to panic, shell up, and trade wild hooksin the pocket. If you do that, you’re playing their game. It’s a coin flip. You don’t beat a high-pressure fighter by being tougher than them. You beat themwith geometry, inside control, and framing. You drain their energy in the clinchand you intercept their rhythm with tight angles. You don’t survive a brawler. You dismantle him systematically. 🧠If you have a fight officially booked and you don’t have a specific blueprint toshut down your opponent, you are going to war blind.#chris_moninga #boxingblueprint #strikinganalysis #brawlers #fightlab by @chris_moninga

You don’t get dropped by what you see. You get dropped by what you don’t know you’re doing. Elite fighters don’t scout your skills. They scout your habits.”Your habits are talking. Elite opponents are listening. 🎯Every fighter has patterns they don’t know they have. That’s what gets you dropped. Not lack of skill. Not slow hands. Unconscious repetition.🔻 Why “unaware” habits are the most dangerous kind:• You can’t defend what you don’t know you’re doing• Elite opponents don’t need to guess — they collect data on you for rounds 1-2, then cash in round 3• The habit feels “natural” because it’s grooved into muscle memory, which means it fires under pressure — exactly when you’re least able to override it🔻 The most common unconscious tells: • Dipping the same shoulder before every right hand• Exhaling audibly right before you commit to a combo• Resetting to the exact same stance width after every exchange• Blinking or flinching on entry (this one’s brutal — it’s involuntary, but it’s coachable)🔻 How elite camps catch these:Film review isn’t about watching yourself fight. It’s about watching yourself between the exchanges — the setup, the reset, the tell before the tell. That’s where the pattern lives. The fix isn’t “stop doing it.” It’s building enough awareness that the habit becomes a choice again — something you can vary on command.Predictability is the only real vulnerability in this sport. Everything else is just tools.💬 What’s a tell you didn’t know you had until someone called it out?#Chris_Moninga #Elite #FightIQ #skill #knowledgeispower by @chris_moninga

FLAT FOOTED = DEAD ON YOUR FEET 🚫👟You can’t react to what you can’t move away from. Elite fighters live on the ball of the foot — here’s why flat feet get you hurt. Why flat-footed fighting fails:⚠️ Zero reactivity — Weight is fully settled into the heel, so there’s a split-second delay before you can push off in any direction. That delay is exactly when you eat a shot.⚠️ Kills lateral movement — Pivoting off a flat foot means dragging your whole body weight through the turn instead of rotating cleanly. Angles become slow and telegraphed.⚠️ Weak kinetic chain — Power generation starts from ground reaction force traveling up through the foot, hip, and shoulder. A flat foot dampens that transfer before it even begins.⚠️ No stopping power on the retreat — Can’t check distance or snap back after an exchange because there’s no spring in the step. Why the ball of the foot wins:✅ Coiled and ready — Like a sprinter in the blocks, weight forward on the balls of the feet means you’re always loaded to explode — forward, back, or lateral.✅ Faster first step — Reaction time to a feint or a committed strike is cut down because you’re not un-settling your weight first.✅ Cleaner pivots — Rotating off the ball lets the hip turn freely, which is where real power and angle creation come from.✅ Built-in defense — Staying light on the feet means you can slip a shot AND counter in the same motion, instead of eating it while flat-footed and stuck.Bottom line: Flat feet are for standing still. Fighting is about controlling time and space — and you can only do that from the balls of your feet. 👟⚡Drop a 🔥 if you’ve had a coach drill this into you.#Chris_Moninga #Elite #FightIQ #Stance #tip by @chris_moninga

Why Drilling Combos Is Making You a Predictable Fighter 🥊 Combinations are cages. 🔒Most fighters drill 1-2-3, 1-2-hook, jab-cross-kick until it’s automatic. Feels good in the mirror. Falls apart against elite defense. Here’s the problem 👇⚠️ Combos are pre-written sentencesYou’re not reading the fight — you’re reciting a script. Elite opponents see combo, coming after punch because you’ve grooved the whole pattern, not the individual pieces.⚠️ They kill adaptabilityReal exchanges are broken, messy, non-linear. A trained combo assumes the opponent stands still for 3 beats. Elite fighters never do.⚠️ They create hesitation gapsMiss punch in the sequence? Many fighters freeze or force the rest of the combo anyway — because it was never really about the situation in front of them.⚠️ They cap your creativityBuilding from scratch means every punch is a decision based on distance, angle, and reaction. Combos replace decision-making with memorization.✅ The fix: Train shots as independent tools first. Learn what each one sets up, what it opens, what it hides. Then let combinations emerge from real feints and reads — not from muscle memory alone.Elite fighters don’t throw combos. They throw conclusions — the natural result of reading the moment correctly.Do you drill combinations, or build shot-by-shot? 👇#Chris_Moninga #Elite #FightIQ #combination #skill by @chris_moninga

Listen up‼️Why elite fighters refuse to fight from just one stance 🥊Most fighters pick orthodox or southpaw and stay there their whole career. The elite ones don’t have that luxury — they switch, and here’s why it matters:⚡ Angle access — Different stances open different lines of attack. A southpaw stance against an orthodox opponent lines your rear hand up with their chin outside their lead shoulder. Switch stances mid-fight and you switch which weapons are live.⚡ Broken timing — Orthodox vs orthodox, both fighters are calibrated to the same rhythm from years of sparring the same look. Flip to southpaw for even three seconds and their read on distance and timing goes stale. That half-second of confusion is where the finish lives.⚡ Lead hand ownership — Whoever controls the lead hand battle controls range. Switching stances mid-exchange lets you steal that position back when an opponent has figured out your jab.⚡ Defensive misdirection — A stance switch right before you load a shot masks intent. Opponents track patterns first, technique second. Break the pattern and their guard goes up in the wrong place. The catch: switching isn’t free. Every transition is a half-beat where your base is compromised. Elite fighters drill the switch until it’s seamless — weight already transferred before the opponent even registers the change.Training takeaway: Don’t just shadow box combos. Shadow box the switch — footwork in, stance change, output, reset. That transition is the actual skill.Question for the comments 👇 Orthodox, southpaw, or full switch — which do you train from, and why?#Chris_Moninga #Elite #FightIQ #tactical #Combatsports by @chris_moninga

This is why “arm punches” look weak even when thrown hard: without weight shift, you’re isolating maybe 20% of your available force production. Elite athletes train this sequencing until it’s automatic — weight rides on the back foot during the load phase, then transfers explosively onto the front foot as the punch fires, syncing perfectly with hip rotation and exhale timing. The technical payoff:🔹 Higher peak force at contact (more mass effectively “behind” the strike)🔹 Better balance recovery — proper weight transfer keeps you centered, not lunging🔹 Reduced injury risk — force absorbed through the whole chain instead of jarring the wrist/shoulder🔹 Faster follow-up strikes — because your base never gets compromisedBottom line: real power isn’t muscled, it’s sequenced. Train the transfer, not just the throw. 🥊@realdevinhaney with all due respect I hope you’re not offended.#Chris_Moninga #elite #powerful #punches #FightIQ by @chris_moninga

Head control wins the clinch. 🥊At close range, the head is the first target and the first line of defense. Elite strikers know:• Chin down, eyes up — protects the jaw from hooks and knees while keeping vision on the opponent’s hips and shoulders (where strikes originate)• Head position dictates leverage — whoever controls head placement in the clinch controls balance, angles, and exit routes• Small movements, big effect — slipping just 4-6 inches off the centerline can turn a fight-ending shot into a glancing blow• Framing off the head — using forearms/shoulders to manage distance from an opponent’s skull prevents them from initiating combinationsIn tight quarters, the fighter who manages head position — theirs and their opponent’s — dictates the exchange. Everything else follows. Close range isn’t about power — it’s about position.✅ Chin tucked = fight-ready✅ Eyes up = see it coming✅ Own the head = own the angle✅ Lose head control = lose the exchangeElite fighters don’t just throw shots. They manage real estate — inches decide who eats a knee and who lands one.Distance is optional. Head position isn’t.👊 Which sport tests this most — boxing, Muay Thai, or MMA? Snap It Back — Why Retraction Speed Wins Fights 🥊➡️Everyone obsesses over how fast a punch goes out. Almost nobody trains how fast it comes back. That’s a mistake — retraction speed is just as important as extension speed, especially on straight attacks like the jab and cross. Here’s why:⚡ Your guard is down the whole time your hand is out. The longer your fist stays extended, the longer that side of your face is exposed to a counter. A fast retraction closes that window before your opponent can capitalize on it.⚡ Retraction = your return to defense. A straight punch isn’t finished when it lands — it’s finished when your hand is back home, protecting your chin. Slow retraction means you’re still “open” even after a clean hit.⚡ It powers your next strike. Quick retraction reloads the muscle for the next shot. Combos flow faster and hit harder when your hand snaps back instead of drifting back — that’s what makes rapid-fire jabs or a jab-cross-hook possible without a hitch.⚡ It disguises your rhythm. A punch that snaps out and back sharply is harder to time than one that lingers. Fighters who “push” their punches out and slowly pull back give opponents a predictable rhythm to counter.⚡ Whip mechanics again. Think crack of a whip — fast out, fast back. The snap at the end (both directions) is where speed and power actually come from, not from muscling the strike out slowly.Train it: shadowbox focusing only on the return, not the strike. Snap the jab out, snap it back to guard — repeat until retraction becomes as automatic as the punch itself.#Chris_Moninga #Striking #Biomechanics #FightIQ #sportsperformance by @chris_moninga

Loose Hands, Heavy Hands 💥🥊 💨Tension kills speed. Every ounce of pre-flex in your shoulders, fists, or jaw before you throw is a signal — your opponent reads it before the strike even leaves. The mechanics:⚡ Power comes from acceleration through the chain (hips → core → shoulder → fist), not from muscling up before you move.⚡ A tense muscle has to relax before it can fire — that’s wasted time you don’t have in a fight.⚡ Relaxed = invisible. No tell in the shoulders, no tightening in the neck, no warning shot.⚡ Whip mechanics, not push mechanics — stay loose the whole way, snap on impact, then reset.Train it: shadowbox with your hands relaxed, breathe out on contact, and only tense at the exact moment you land. That’s the difference between telegraphed power and real, sneaky knockout power.Stay loose till it counts. 🙏#Chris_Moninga #Striking #Mechanics #combatsports #skill by @chris_moninga

“Pads don’t lie. No crowd. No ref. No mercy. Just you, the mitts, and the version of yourself you’re trying to build. Here is why he is not gonna be beat for a longtime, even doing a lot of things like “Rhythm Step” as Barry calls it & more but with so many different timing, distance level changes it isn’t easy to read him, while he reads you. @saenchaithailand is a scanning expert.Elite fighters don’t drill pads to look good — they drill pads to make violence automatic. Speed becomes reflex. Power becomes habit. Precision becomes instinct.By fight night, they’re not thinking. They’re hunting. 🐆What Pad work means = neural programming.Every combination rewires motor patterns — stimulus to response, no conscious delay. Elite athletes aren’t just building power, they’re building reaction time under fatigue.Angles. Timing. Distance management. Broken down to the millisecond, drilled until it’s autonomic. That’s the difference between throwing a punch and becoming one. 🥊#Chris_Moninga #PadWork #skills #CombatSports #FightIQ by @chris_moninga
