HOW TO MAKE THE BEST SOUP. 🥣

Some people will taste what you’ve built and never understand what it took to make it.

But this poem isn’t just about hard work.

It’s about the ingredients life handed you before you were old enough to choose. The people who shaped you, including three that have shaped me. The environments you grew up in. The opportunities you had, the ones you didn’t, and the decisions you made along the way.

It’s about understanding that two people can have similar ingredients and still end up with completely different recipes.

And sometimes, no matter how carefully you cook, life doesn’t give everybody the same kitchen, the same resources, or even the same fire.

That’s why trusting the process doesn’t mean blindly repeating what isn’t working.

Sometimes you need more patience.
Sometimes you need different ingredients.
Sometimes you need to turn up the heat.

And sometimes, like my grandma used to say when I was responsible for the dish, baby, you need to throw that batch out and start again. 😂🤣🤣

You can learn from somebody else’s recipe, but you still have to live your own life.

I’m still cooking. And so are you.

So read this one slowly. Then read it again.

And ask yourself:

Are you actually learning how to cook, or are you still waiting for somebody to feed you?

They called it luck.

You lived the recipe.

Clarity is Currency™.

Let’s think it through.

And if reading this made you realize you’ve been following a recipe that isn’t producing the life you want, maybe it’s time to take a closer look at what you’re cooking.

That’s the work we do at Clarity Currency™.

Some of us have mastered the art of being busy… and haven’t mastered the business of making progress.

Calendar full.
Phone ringing.
Emails answered.
Everybody needs something.

And somehow, the ONE thing we said mattered most keeps getting pushed to tomorrow and the next.

Here’s what’s interesting…

You can be committed to your routine and disconnected from your results.
(Read that again)

That’s a dangerous combination because the effort feels like evidence of progress.

But effort is an investment.

And not every investment is producing a return. 💰

Sometimes we’re giving our best hours to obligations we don’t even value, conversations we don’t want to have, and priorities we never consciously chose.

Then wondering why we’re exhausted but still unsatisfied.

Now, I’m not saying everything has to produce money or measurable achievement. Rest, relationships, and enjoyment have value too.

But if something matters enough to keep talking about…

Does it matter enough to make room for?

Before you call yourself productive today, ask:

What actually moved forward because I moved?

And if you can’t answer that question…

Maybe you don’t need another twelve-hour day.

Maybe you need a different direction.

Because being busy can make you feel important.

Being effective moves what’s important.

Clarity is Currency. 🪙

Sometimes “you weren’t good enough” and “you already have enough” are separated by one decision.

Life has a funny way of changing the plan without asking for permission. 🤦🏾‍♂️

And when it does, we can spend a lot of time trying to figure out what the interruption means.

Was I not good enough?
Did I fail?
Am I behind?
Did I make the wrong decision?

But be careful.

An event can give you information without getting permission to define you.

Maybe you need to learn something. Learn it.

Maybe you need to improve something. Improve it.

Maybe the strategy needs to change. Change it.

But don’t let one circumstance negotiate down a standard you spent years building.

Because sometimes what looks like rejection is simply the moment that forces a question you’ve been avoiding:

What am I waiting to have before I finally use what I already have?

More confidence?
More money?
More experience?
More certainty?
More ducks standing politely in a row? 😂

Preparation matters.

But eventually preparation has to become participation.

And you may discover you weren’t missing nearly as much as you thought.

You don’t need every answer to make the next decision.
You need enough clarity to make the next move.

The circumstances changed.

The standard didn’t.

And if the ducks moved?

Move with them. 🦆

A spotter can help you carry the weight. They can’t make you strong enough to carry it.

I think a lot of us confuse support with rescue.

We’re working. We’re ambitious. We’re saying all the right things. We may even look disciplined from the outside.

But somewhere underneath all that motion is still a quiet expectation:

Somebody will notice.
Somebody will open the right door.
Somebody will finally say, “I got you.”

And sometimes they will.

But a door opening and you walking through it are still two different jobs.

That’s what took me a while to understand.

Ask for the spot. Find the mentor. Build the community. Take the help.

Just don’t hand somebody else the bar and call it your workout.

Because eventually life asks a question nobody can answer for you:

Can you carry what you keep asking for?

More money comes with weight.
More leadership comes with weight.
Better relationships come with weight.
The life you keep praying, planning and talking about comes with weight.

Maybe the goal isn’t to prove you don’t need a spotter.

Maybe it’s to become strong enough that support helps you lift more—not rescue you from lifting at all.

The weight is yours.
So is the rep.

I don’t have a motivation problem.

I have a “too many things I refuse to put second” problem. 😂

I want to win at work.
Grow the business.
Get better at my craft.
Learn more.
Train.
Make additional money.
Be present for the people I love.

And because they’re all GOOD things, it’s easy to convince myself they all deserve my best attention right now.

But they can’t.

That’s the part I’m learning.

Something can be important without being the most important thing in this season.

And sometimes the thing stealing from your #1 priority isn’t a distraction.

It’s another good opportunity.

Another goal.

Another thing you could be doing.

So this week I’m asking myself:

What needs to grow?
What only needs maintenance?
What can wait?

Because I can always find another thing worth saying yes to.

The harder question is:

What deserves my “not yet”?

Your turn.

What’s #1 in your life right now?

#ClarityCurrency #Priorities #HighPerformance IntentionalLiving by @chrisdanthony

Sometimes quitting IS the right move.

There. Now before somebody takes that sentence and uses it to justify walking away from everything that gets uncomfortable… 😂

That’s not the point.

The harder question is:

How do we know the difference between something that no longer deserves our commitment… and something we simply no longer feel like committing to?

Because those can feel VERY similar in the moment.

Then there’s the opposite problem.

We can know something needs to change and still hold onto it because of everything we’ve already invested.

Money.
Years.
Energy.
Love.
Reputation.

And eventually:

“I’ve already put too much into this to stop now.”

But what we’ve already spent doesn’t automatically determine what deserves our next investment.

So maybe before staying OR leaving, we need to ask:

If I were choosing this today, knowing what I know now… would I choose it again?

And if new information eventually shows us we made the wrong decision?

Now comes another test:

Can we correct ourselves without our pride getting in the way?

Stay. Leave. Correct.

Three different decisions.

And knowing which one this moment requires?

That’s the work.

Some of our biggest fears have never been cross-examined.

They’ve just been repeated.

“What if I fail?”
“What if I lose?”
“What if I’m not ready?”
“What if this doesn’t work?”

And because the conversation stays in our head, fear gets to make claims without presenting evidence.

That’s what I’m learning to appreciate about journaling.

Paper makes us get specific.

What am I actually afraid will happen?
What evidence supports it?
What evidence challenges it?
If the worst realistic outcome happens, what would I do next?

And sometimes the answer is uncomfortable:

The risk is real.

Good. Now we can prepare for something real instead of wrestling with something more unrealistic than the WWE, with something undefined.

Other times we finally see the fear clearly and think:

“…THAT’S what’s been stopping me?”

That’s the distinction.

Fear may survive the paper.
But vagueness usually doesn’t.

And once we can define what we’re dealing with, we can make a decision about what comes next.

So before we let fear make another decision for us tonight:

Put it on paper. Make it show its work.

Save this for the next time your mind gives you 47 reasons not to move. 😂

Let’s think it through.

There’s a dangerous kind of procrastination that doesn’t look like procrastination at all.

It looks like getting things done.

The house is clean.
Emails answered.
Errands handled.
Research done.
Workout finished.

We’re exhausted by the end of the day…

and the goal that supposedly matters most is sitting there like:

“Soooo… we still doing this or nah?” 😂

That’s what makes productive procrastination so easy to miss.

We’re not avoiding work.

Sometimes we’re avoiding the specific work that carries the most uncertainty, discomfort, or consequence—and replacing it with work that still lets us feel productive.

So being busy isn’t always the question.

The better question is:

What moved because I moved today?

Tonight, put it on paper:

What did I say mattered?
Where did my time actually go?
What moved forward because of it?

Because a full day and a forward-moving day are not always the same thing.

And sometimes the first thing we need to stop procrastinating on…

is telling ourselves the truth.

Let’s think it through.

We’re quick to say, “I failed.”

But that doesn’t tell us enough.

Was the standard unclear?
Was the preparation wrong?
Did we lack the skill?
Did we know what to do and fail to execute?

Because if we diagnose the wrong problem, we can spend months working harder… in the wrong direction.

That’s one reason I love training.

The weight doesn’t care about our explanation. It gives us evidence.

And the more I study performance, the more I realize the principles don’t stay in one arena.

The question isn’t just whether we’re disciplined in the gym, successful at work, or good with money.

Can the principle travel?

Because the life we say we want has a standard attached to it.

And that standard has a training requirement.

So maybe the question for this week isn’t:

“How badly do I want it?”

Maybe it’s:

“Does the way I’m preparing match the standard of the life I keep saying I want?”

That question might expose something.

Don’t let what you call your priorities look at your calendar and scream, “YOU LIED TO ME.” 😂

We can say something is a priority all day.

Our allocation tells the truth.

If we say building the business matters, but give it 0 focused hours this week—that costs us a week.

Do that for a month?

That’s 30 days where feedback, skill development, relationships, opportunities, and evidence never got the chance to compound.

Same with our health.
Our finances.
Our relationships.
Our career.
Our purpose.

And this isn’t about being productive every second of the day.

Rest can be an intentional allocation too.

The problem is when what we say matters and where our time actually goes keep telling two different stories.

So before this week closes, pull up your calendar.

Pick the one thing you keep saying matters.

Then ask:

How much time did I actually fund it with?

Don’t try to fix your entire life tonight.

Schedule one specific block for it next week—before everything else gets the opportunity to spend that time for you.

Because sometimes we don’t need more time.

We need clarity on what deserves the time we already have.

Your calendar has receipts.

What did yours say this week?

Hopefully not…

“YOU LIED TO ME.” 😂

#ClarityCurrency #SelfLeadership #HighPerformance by @chrisdanthony

“I’m waiting for the right time.”

Cool.

But what exactly are we waiting for?

There’s nothing wrong with preparation. Research matters. Learning matters. Asking questions matters.

But at some point, we can consume all the information in the world and still be missing the one thing research can’t give us:

Evidence from our own experience.

Some questions only show up after we move.

Some lessons only make sense after we try.

And sometimes the clarity we keep waiting on is sitting on the other side of the action we keep avoiding.

The goal isn’t reckless action.

It’s knowing enough to take the next intelligent step, learn from what happens, and ask a better question from there.

Because waiting creates evidence too.

So does moving.

What evidence are your actions giving you about who you are becoming?

For my high performers, I hope you all catch this one.

Sometimes ambition can make us impatient with the process.

We see where we’re capable of going, so naturally we want opportunities that match that vision.

But there’s a difference between thinking small and being strategic about where you get your reps.

Take the big opportunity when it comes.

Take the shot.

But learn how to fail in ways that let you learn, adjust, and stay in the game.

Because sometimes the problem isn’t effort.

We’re already working.

The real question is whether we can recognize what needs patience, what needs more reps, and what we’re actually ready to GO on.

Sometimes we’re practicing when we should be performing.

Other times, we’re performing where we should still be practicing.

And that distinction can get expensive.

Think big. Take the shot. Trust the process. But work the process.

Let’s think it through.
