I'm fucking angry.

Angry at the way some men talk about women.
Angry at the excuses and entitlement.
Angry at how quickly "not all men" becomes a defence instead of a reason to listen, reflect or change.

Angry that one man's actions can leave a woman carrying something long after he's forgotten about it. Ordinary words or situations that can suddenly drag her back to something another man did.

I've been told far too many stories about what men have done.

@lauraleefem93 and I wrote and made Not All Men because the problem isn't only the man who crosses the line.

It's the men around him.

The ones who hear the jokes. Laugh at them.
Who notice when a woman is uncomfortable.
Who know their mate is going too far.

And say nothing.

Because "that's just what he's like."
Because he's a friend.
Because calling him out might make things awkward.

We tell ourselves we're good men because we'd never be that man. We're "nice guys" because we'd never do that to a woman.

That's a pretty fucking low bar.

You don't get to tell someone you're a "good guy" or a "nice guy", you don't have that privilege, That's for the people around you to decide.

Being a good man isn't only about what you don't do. It's about what you're prepared to say and do when the men around you make women feel unsafe, cross a boundary, or make someone visibly uncomfortable.

I've been guilty of staying quiet.

When I was younger, I saw things I knew weren't right and kept my mouth shut.

To keep the peace.
To avoid confrontation.
Because it wasn't my problem.
Because speaking up was uncomfortable.

Those were excuses.

I grew up. I grew a backbone. And I learned that knowing right from wrong means fuck all if you're only prepared to stand up for what's right when it's easy.

Silence is still a choice.

And sometimes, silence is exactly what allows another man to keep going.

So when I hear "not all men", I keep coming back to the same question:

When it is one of the men around us, what are the rest of us doing?

$Your reel gets you noticed. Your website gets you booked. Most actors and creatives are relying on a linktree and a stale IMDb page to do the job of a real portfolio. Casting directors, brands, and collaborators want somewhere clean to see your work, your reel, your resume, in one place, on your terms. I've spent the last 28 years building websites and platforms for large companies. This year, I'm stepping away from that world for a handful of projects to build for people who actually need it - actors, models, musicians, and creatives who deserve a site as polished as the work they put out, without the enterprise price tag. Custom design, built around your brand, your reel and headshots Resume/CV, press, socials - all in one place Mobile-friendly, fast, easy to update One link you can actually be proud to send I'm only taking on 5-6 of these this year, working directly with each person rather than handing it off to a template or a team, and at a fraction of what this level of work would normally cost. DM me "SITE" if you want to be one of them. by @chrisdarbyfilm$

With some inspiration from The Abyss (1989), had a little play with Blender last night, a little rough, but its a start. by @chrisdarbyfilm

There’s a special kind of pride in seeing code we wrote from scratch perform in the wild.

Tonight, I’m working directly with a production on the eve of their first shoot day. The heavy lifting of the tech is done, so i've spent the day just dialing the system in... checking, testing, and tweaking everything so they can hit the ground running tomorrow morning.

The demands of film production are highly nuanced, and everybody works in a slightly different way. When it comes to CinePlatform, or any software I've developed, my mantra is always: "Please, try and break it!" If a crew happens to find an edge case, it just gives us an opportunity to make it even more bulletproof for them and the next person. Each iteration moves the system closer to perfection.

It’s this kind of hands-on collaboration that ensures CinePlatform stays perfectly aligned with what working crews actually need. Giving our fellow filmmakers that peace of mind so they can just focus on creating is the whole reason we exist.

Actress needed for a purely visual experimental short, any age, any ethnicity, must be able to convey emotion on their face.

Can cover expenses and food and travel if needed.

The first short I ever wrote over 2 and a half years ago I've decided to turn into a feature length story...

We are releasing this little short we made recently. An idea borne of frustration. The commodification of youth, to achieve perceived beauty and thus "value" is causing pain!
