Wonder at The Fishbowl
11 in x 14 in
Pyrography and acrylic paint on wooden board

One’s mind is like a fishbowl. There are beautiful, predictable thoughts swirling, and swimming around. Then come the unexpected contemplation or idea. It can be just as beautiful even though it seems out of place with the other thoughts. The challenge will be to hold space for both. by @chrisdltart

One of my favorite flowers to draw is the poppy . The deep warm variations from canary yellow to scarlet red, creates a strong complimentary contrast to the slate blue . by @chrisdltart

Snake Plants

Pyrography and acrylic on wooden board
12 in x 14 in

I’ve never understood why they name them snake plants. Their patterns resemble more of that of a tiger or a zebra. Either way, I find them fantastic . Unlike a flower, which unfurls her beauty, a snake plant’s sword like fronds pierce your attention. by @chrisdltart

Bird In Paradise

Pyrography with acrylic paint
12 in x 15 in

I like the dramatic appearance of hibiscus flowers. Though they grow in varied colors, reddish ones are my favorite. I wanted to create a sense of night without emphasizing to much on dark values. I translated the red of the hibiscus flowers onto the full moon making it look like a blood moon . by @chrisdltart
