Invisible faith becomes visible when we obey.

Obedience isn’t how we earn God’s love, but it does reveal our trust in Him. Baptism is one of the clearest ways we make our faith visible to the world. by @chrisdotson_

10 YEARS AS SENIOR PASTOR

This weekend we celebrated @pastorjj1 for 10 years served as the Senior Pastor at South Tampa Fellowship.

I’ve had the privilege of partnering alongside him for 5 of those years.

One of the unique gifts of serving closely with someone for years is that eventually you get to see who they really are behind closed doors. You see how they handle pressure. You see how they treat people when there’s nothing to gain from it. You see how they respond when they’re tired, frustrated, disappointed, or carrying weight nobody else sees.

After 10 years at STF (5 of which I have had the privilege to serve alongside) one of the things I can say about JJ with complete honesty is this:

The person you see on stage is the same person he is in private.

Same humility.
Same integrity.
Same love for people.
Same passion for Jesus.
Same burden to lead well.

I know the sacrifices, the difficult conversations, the unseen pressure, and the personal cost that can come with leading and pastoring people for a decade. Through all of it, JJ and Sharon have continued to faithfully pour themselves out for this church and this city.

So much of what God has done at STF over the last 10 years has come through their obedience, faith, and willingness to keep saying yes to God over and over again.

JJ, you help me become a better follower of Jesus, husband, father, and pastor. Partnering with you in ministry is one of the greatest joys of my life.

@rachel.dotson and I love you guys. Honored to serve alongside you. by @chrisdotson_
