Do you feel like you’re doing RDL’s wrong?

🚨🚨 Elevate your toes! 🚨🚨

You have all heard about elevating your heels for squats so you can get deeper range of motion. This works the same way for the RDL, but instead of more range, you better activation/recruitment which is what you want out of the movement. And instead of heels you elevate your toes.

How does this work? 🧐

Think of your muscles as a rubber band. The hamstring is meant to stretch to great lengths, so by lifting the toes, this puts them in a stretched position already. Since they are already stretched, you should get better recruitment and feel it more a lot sooner.

Try this out if you are struggling with RDL’s and let me know what you think

(3) Deadlift tips

The deadlift is always a toss up between an exercise that people believe in or people hate.

Most who hate it associate the movement with pain. 😓
Hopefully these 3 tips to help you deadlift pain free. 😎

1️⃣ Scapula (Shoulder blade) - Tucking the scapulas back and down helps secure the shoulders in the right place. It also locks down the lats in place to secure the upper back and make sure your spine doesn’t move throughout the movement.

How to do: this is where the term “take the slack out” comes from. So before each rep pull your shoulder back and down into your back pockets almost like your trying to hold a pencil underneath your armpit.

2️⃣ Push - The deadlift is a hybrid movement, in my experience it is more a push exercise than a pull one. Once you have secured your scapulas back and down, the next move is to push through the ground (NOT PULL). Because if you are secured in your stance, locked down with your scaps, and a strong brace is engaged all you can do is push with your feet. So drive those feet down and destroy the ground beneath you!

3️⃣ Once you are in the ascending (going up) portion of the lift it’s essential to finish strong. When working on this exercises people usually have common “sticking points” and one is getting their hops through to finish the rep. Instead think of the end as a hip thrust, once the bar gets to knee level or above hip thrust through the bar. Drive your hips through the bar don’t try to pull up.

Remember these tips apply to all variations of the deadlift.

Don’t be afraid of that work! 😈

💥 Season is what everyone works for, those long nights, early mornings, sweat, blood, tears, so why would you stop working just be a aide it’s time to lace them up .

🏋️‍♀️ Athletes that stop training completely during season had a massive decrease in strength compared to athletes that sustained strength training at least 2-3 x per week

Benefits for in season training are endless but here are a few of the top ones

✅ Maintain/Improve strength

✅ Builds work capacity

✅ Helps reducing risk of injury

✅ Mental edge

So if you’re a baseball player and you know the trend for most is to stop training once season starts, take advantage of the time so you can get ahead of your opponent in every single aspect of the game .

Training during season is not going to get your too sore for the game unless you’re in the gym trying to hit a PR everyday. Train smart, join a group or a person that knows what they are doing and can guide you towards the right direction.

💪🏽🧠 Looking for a tip to help build your lower body power?

- Triple Extension is a term used in weight training to explain the action of our ankles, knees, and hips during certain movements.

- The act of extending those joints along with the proper kinematic sequence and timing can propel your lifting numbers and more importantly make you a powerful athlete for your sport

- Think of a vertical jump, during the jumping phase of the movement you are simultaneously extending the hips, knees, ankles to create power.

1️⃣ In video 1 we have an example of triple extension in the Sagittal plane. A single leg box jump is performed by loading the muscles with a proper hinge but on the lift off we see his hip extend, knees lock out, and ankles lift.

2️⃣ In video 2 we have an example of triple extension in the frontal plane. A lateral pop is performed by opening our lead leg and EXTENDING our back leg. If you watch the
slo-mo portion of the video you can see the athletes hip extend, knee lock out, and ankle lift off. This is going to give him the most strength and speed to create power throughout the movement.

📍 So if you’re looking for ways to create more power for your sport, try adding in some triple extension movements into your routine. These are great when wanting to develop speed and power so take full advantage of them.
