Yes - when you teach, you're in a building full of other teachers. And yes - when you teach music, there MAY be other music teachers in the building. But often, when you teach choir, you're the only CHOIR DIRECTOR in the building. So, to spend this week with a bunch of CHORAL colleagues who also "geek out" over vocal harmonies; "fixate" over vowel modifications; eagerly grapple with non-Western art forms; and stand in wonder of the possibilities each piece of music has to unite, connect, enlighten, and inspire - that was SO rewarding! Thx everyone! by @chrisilg

It's always refreshing to reconnect with the craft of teaching music

So much experience and so many perspectives in the room as we get to geek out over resonant placement, vowel unification, and Western languages.

Dr. Lercher hits it exactly right: it's important we know our crafts both as musicians and teachers. But in the end, the power and significance of the choir experience is in its community.

My experience: Yes - coming to know and communicate art is vital. Yes - coming to understand and experience the perspectives and insights of other cultures and authors is enriching. But, in a choir, coming to know each other; work with each other; share common effort and experience; grow together; learn with each other and from each other; and finally come to present something to a community that inspires and uplifts - that is definitely an awesome way to do life! by @chrisilg
