Albi 24hr race🥇 🏆 with a distance of 273.3 ish (still waiting for the official measurement) in my debut at the 24hr format. If the distance is correct it will put me in 4th on the U.K. all time list alongside names I’ve looked up to in awe for their achievements in the ultra game.
I’ve also been informed that this is the second furthest distance ever run in a 24hr race on French soil which is bonkers. Not too bad to sit second on a list behind @ultrarunner_aleksandr_sorokin 😬

I’ll post a bit more when my brain comes back online but I really wanted to thank a few people. Firstly my amazing crew of @cakewinerunning @sjbennett10 & @kelly_kelly0717 You were absolutely amazing throughout and there is no way any of this would have been possible without you guys. Thank you doesn’t even cut it!!

I also want to thank @curranzsport for all their support as well as @pickledjhon @jpgwade & @hoka_eu for all they’ve done to support me too. I am very grateful 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Lastly, thanks to everyone who was following along and for all the messages I’ve had so far. I really appreciate your kind word and support.

The Grand Union Canal Race 2024 - After missing this race last year due to my fractures I headed into this years race feeling fairly confident off the back of some solid training. The cold I caught the week prior to the race was still hanging around though and I knew I had tough competition on the start line.

As we headed off at 6am three of us took up the lead and enjoyed a few chatty miles until the first checkpoint. I didn’t stop there so took the lead and then didn’t see anyone else again for the rest of the race.

Apart from a lot of coughing from the lingering cold and my hr being a little higher due to that, I was feeling great and ticked along at a comfortable pace.

I was crewed as always by @kelly_kelly0717 and later she was joined by @nini704. Both of you were absolutely amazing and I cannot thank you enough. None of this would be be possible without you 🙏🏻.

Due to some logistical issues out of everyone’s control we did miss each other on a couple of occasions and although I managed to ride it out at the time despite the heat the lack of nutrition during those periods caught up with me later.

I got to 100 miles in around 14:15 and was feeling really strong but knew I was on the edge. I had decided earlier that I was going to just go hard and that’s what I did.

At around 170-180k the course seemed to get quite a bit harder, the nearly always runnable towpaths disappeared and became long grass or very boggy and overgrown. Some sections were over my head in cow parsley and nettles and reduced me to walking. The little ramps up the locks also started to disrupt my rhythm and the course being the uphill version started to come to light.

I was slowing as expected but I was still moving ok.

That all changed with about 15 - 20 miles to go and it became a real battle of wills. I started to get stomach issues and was struggling to get anything on board. I was taking in what I could but with 10 miles left it became a real slog. I ended up marching it in as anything more than a walk made me feel sick. I abandoned all time goals and just aimed to get the job done.

Seeing the finish banner was a real relief!!

Huge congratulations to @curranzsport 🏆

CurraNZ were recently crowned Sports Nutrition Product of the Year at the 2026 NutraIngredients-USA Awards in Chicago, completing an unprecedented second Grand Slam, sweeping Asia, Europe and the USA for the second time.

That’s SIX NutraIngredients titles, believed to be the only boutique brand ever to do it. The judges called it “a brand that walks the talk”, and as someone who relies on it in my own training, I couldn’t agree more.

Backed by 60+ peer-reviewed studies, including a 15-trial meta-analysis on fat oxidation. Real science, real results.

Proud to be part of the CurraNZ family. 💪

ACP 100k — 6:48:12 | 5th place

Not the day I wanted but one I’ll take all things considered.

Went into this in arguably the best shape I’ve ever been in but our renovation work kicking back into life at the beginning of my taper, and the illness that followed, had other ideas. Nearly didn’t make the start line but rolled the dice anyway.

I knew from the first few laps it was going to be a tough day. HR was high from the off, then my cough came back around 3 hours in. That followed by a loo stop and then a bad stitch at 81k after letting my fluids slip in the heat meant I lost time. The stitch took a while to shake and then I never fully got going again. Ultimately we got the job done but still a disappointing result in many ways.

It was great to see some familiar faces, friends and meet some new ones too. There were some incredible performances out there too which is always an honour to witness.

Massive thanks to @kelly_kelly0717 for all you do to help make all this possible comes and for crewing me on the day 🙏🙏

Huge thanks to @curranzsport and @precisionfandh for all your help and support.

Came home in 70:20 @cambridgehalfuk yesterday and a new PB by just under 90 secs. Not too bad for an aging ultra runner!! 😂

Always enjoy racing in my home city and yesterday was no different. The crowds were fantastic as usual!!

I knew the fitness was there but wasn’t sure quite what i could do as the race came at the end of a block for me. I went into it off a mini taper not feeling 100% after being a bit under the weather during the week.

Thankfully I felt super strong from the start fitness wise but the all the recent miles in the legs stopped me pushing when I wanted to. I know a sub-70 is in there for another day though!! 👊

I never thought I’d run close to 70 mins even a year so ago, so I’m really happy but would have liked to have gone in fresh to see what I really could have run.

Even more pleasing were the results for the @rts.coaching athletes!! Congratulations all of you 👏👏A fantastic day and a super happy coaching team 🙌🙌

Do we ever get too old to appreciate a trophy?

Nice to open the 2026 running account and my 43rd year with a podium place at the Wymondham NYD 10k

2nd place in 34:12.

Certainly not the time I wanted but the conditions had their input on that one today. Hopefully a good sign of things to come though 🤞 taken in Wymondham, Norfolk by @chrisk_runs

Thank you 2025 🙏🙏

You will always be the year I got to represent Great Britain at a World Championships and went sub 2:30 for the marathon.

There were PBs over 10k and the half marathon too, plus a win and course record at the Peddars Way 48 miler along the way.

It was a year of two halves though. It started brilliantly, then took a bit of a turn after the injury at the SDW100. Don’t get me wrong, coming 4th was still a great achievement given I could barely run for large parts, but the risk it posed to the rest of the year was huge.

Just getting to the start line at the Worlds felt like a race in itself, and one I did win. The training was as solid as it could have been given the circumstances, but I became so fixated on simply getting there that the race itself took a back seat, and the result on the day was disappointing. Still 31st in the world but nowhere near what I wanted!

That said, the fire is very much lit again and I am excited to see what 2026 brings.

Happy New Year, and a massive thank you to everyone who has supported me this year. It genuinely means a lot.

PS I have been a bit quiet the last couple of months, but fear not, I will be back next year with all your boring content needs x

World 24hr Championships 2025

249.618km – 31st overall & 1st British male

What an experience with an amazing group of people!!

My race didn’t go to plan, but I’m so proud to have worn the GB vest & to be able to call myself a GB athlete.

Huge congratulations to our women’s team who were crowned world champions, clocking a team world record in the process. You were all incredible & to witness you do your thing as a team was amazing.
A special mention to @sarah.webster.948 for setting a new world record. It was an absolute honour to see you smash it with such grit & determination.

Massive thanks to all the staff who delivered a world-class service before, during & after. You’re all amazingly selfless humans.
A special mention to @cakewinerunning who not only looked after me during the race with her usual perfection but also kindly put me up before & looked after me after. You’re the best ❤️

To my men’s teammates, it was an honour to run with you guys. It wasn’t our time, but we’ll be back stronger.
Huge thanks to @joggermaskell who kept me moving & entertained when needed. You’re an incredible person & the ultimate team player.

For me personally, it was all going so well until it wasn’t. There were various reasons but honestly, I took my eye off the ball when it mattered most. I’m gutted I didn’t deliver on the biggest stage, but this isn’t a failure, it’s a huge lesson. I now truly know what I’m capable of. The fire’s lit & I can’t wait to put things right 🔥

To have friends & family there to support was amazing. Thank you all for making the weekend so special.

As always, a massive thanks to my wife @kelly_kelly0717. Without your love & support, none of this would be possible. I can’t express how much I appreciate it ❤️

Thanks as well for all the messages & support from everyone on here. It means the world 🙏 taken in Albi, France by @chrisk_runs

Most of the work is done with 900km’s covered in the last 4 weeks. The aim for next week is just to tick over. Then we rest and get ready to race against the best in the world 🙌🙌

4 weeks to go until the big dance!! 🎯

Being in this position 12 weeks ago seemed like a very ambitious target given the injury I’d sustained.

I knew that to be in with a chance of being where I wanted to be, I’d have to do all the little things, make sacrifices, work hard and put the hours in.

Thankfully this all seems to be paying off. That said, I’m fully aware it could all fall apart at any moment, so every move needs to be calculated and every session appreciated.

I love the whole process of a training block. It’s like the art of baking a cake with the event at the end just the cherry on the top.

Roll on the next few weeks!! 👊
