Stuck in Athens
I got stuck in a traffic jam in Athens today, which makes you think.
What the fuck have we done?

How did we, Homo sapiens, end up in this completely inhuman disaster? Is this what we were hoping for when we left the savanna?

Sure, I get it. Back on the savanna, getting kicked out of the group meant actual, literal death. In the city, living alone just means you have to learn how to do your own taxes and keep a houseplant alive. So in that sense, we've made progress.

But still. Where are the mountains?
Where do I go ski touring in this? Where is that rock behind the trees that I actually want to climb? Where is the pure, pointless, beautiful adventure?

Instead I'm here, inching forward in a rented Fiat, surrounded by thousands of other Homo sapiens who are all also wondering where the mountains went, while a guy on a scooter with a souvlaki delivery squeezes past me at 2 km/h.

We might left the savanna to avoid dying alone. Now we're stuck together in traffic, dying to be alone on a mountain.

And then I remembered - I'm going sailing today.

So screw the mountains. Let the cars have their jam. I'll find my adventure out there on the water instead. by @chriskahlgren

Courma dayz☀️ Mont Fortin and La Balme by @chriskahlgren

Resistance creates meaning. Den mätta dagen är aldrig störst. AI is a trap, I’m talking to you kids. Do fall into comfort crisis, which leads to lack of meaning. If you don’t challenge and test yourself you won’t learn what your potential is. If you don’t know what exists in the edge of your potential, man, you will miss something vital.
When you let yourself be in a situation with less control you’ll find yourself in close contact with life.

I love the feeling of sending a 7A just before the Friday beer.

The last time I went kitesurfing was probably ten years ago. Since then, I’ve climbed 7,000-meter mountains in Kyrgyzstan, been stranded in a storm on a vertical 4,000-meter peak next to Mont Blanc, climbed active volcanoes (one of which had a small eruption while I was at the edge of the crater), and skied off-piste on the backside of tall, brutally steep mountains as darkness began to fall. Not a scratch. Then you try kitesurfing once.

Visit from down under. Coolest cat on earth. A sailor who knows how to sail without wind. The comrade you refuse to say goodbye to. by @chriskahlgren
