Each county in Kenya has the potential to host a convention venue that can accommodate a large number of attendees, attracting delegates from far and wide.

However, who actively chooses to visit counties like Nandi, Murang’a, or Kitui for tourism?

When we consider the landscape of tourism in Kenya, only a handful of counties truly benefit from it. Out of 47 counties, only about 10—such as Narok, Kwale, Nakuru (particularly Naivasha), and the North Coast of Mombasa—are significant players in the tourism sector.

So, why aren’t more counties investing in MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) venues?
It’s important to note that around 70% of conference delegates’ expenses are typically covered by their organizations.
This raises the question: how many individuals, including myself, can afford to travel as tourists? And if they do have the means, what attractions does your county offer to entice them?

Countries like Rwanda and South Africa are reaping substantial benefits from their investments in tourism. We have the potential to achieve similar success as a nation.

Why I always insist we need Modern Convention Centres in all our counties.

Converting delegates into tourists after a conference is easier than the reverse, as tourists cannot transition back to being conference delegates.
Therefore, let’s invest in building modern multipurpose convention centers that will attract more MICE events, allowing delegates to explore our local tourist attractions. by @chriskirwa

You don’t have to understand everything God is doing to trust that he is working.
