Poetry has a way of finding beauty in our tragedies. It has a way of shining the light not just on our strong qualities when vulnerable but the honesty and truth of who we are when our life changes. Poetry highlights our decisions and relationships. Truly, each word brings meaning, showcasing our thoughts and feelings.

Both @wheelofashes and @slevy43 demonstrate the severity and strength through their poems. Both poets are esteemed and distinguished in their presentation and presence. Their work does not let you leave that behind. Putting them together to shine at @riffraffpvd was the best thing we could have done for both of them and together they truly have carved out space in this year's crawl. We couldn't be more content with honoring their work in this year's crawl!

We ask ourselves, why? What is our reason to push forward? We personally may not know but poetry contains that answer for us more than we know. @reeselandrypoetry definitely brings that to light in her poetry, a reminder that grounds us! Aspiration Press presents "TIP$IE" a showcase and open mic where you can directly support the artists/performers as you experience it! This is the very first one and what better to start by celebrating not only September's PVD Poetry Crawl but also Hispanic Heritage month!

Just as Captain America has always said he's a kid from Brooklyn. John always humbly reminds us that he's just a kid from Central falls. Not only out loud by telling us but by embodying that sentiment through his honesty and vulnerability, expressed raw and powerfully. Not only will you remember it, you won't forget who he is! Knowledge and wisdom are accumulated through experiences and time. Although @suleimeninsta is the youngest poet we have this year and the wisdom he possesses and expresses has a way, of not only flooring us but reminding us of hope for the future. He's bright, earnest, gentle and kind. So it was right to have him with @mrorangelive at @chop_pvd and we couldn't be more proud to have him be part of our crawl this year!

Pillars bear weight, they uplift and they maintain. Making them integral to the structure since they provide a foundation. @mrorangelive is a pillar for Providence. We couldn't see the crawl without him, due to his support and rallying of Providence but also the depth and strength of his poetry. Couldn't feel safer having him join us for our inaugural crawl!

Being yourself, putting your soul on display, telling us who you are per line and per word. It encompasses every breath when we write, transferred and matched by the person who so happens to read or hear it. We become our poems and poems become us. When you can have someone not only do that effortlessly but as well wholeheartedly and ultimately unapologetically, you can't help but to pair them together!

Poetry is a way for us to cleanse ourselves. Of our emotions, our experiences and things that no longer serve us. When what once was part of you or still may be, lingers or lost. These words can get rid of that and shed us into renewal and revival. @michaelis.lee
Demonstrates that with ease and uses poetry as a reminder we can always turn things around and refresh ourselves in the process. Excited to have them be part of the crawl this year!!

Often times, we write poetry as a release. As a way to define our emotions, thoughts and desires, a way to express ourselves and move us. Other times, the therapist writes poetry to move you and they do it with every ounce of their heart, with faith you'll show up for you because they know you can.

@themonicadvance is a poet who has the most faith in all creatives and does her very best to move and motivate as others have for her. Someone who can see you and know you got this. All the more to pair her up with @simplicimentesara at @bittyandbeauscoffee

@distant.relatives is not only unique but truly an enigma who has planted her flag and solidified herself to receive nothing but respect. @renemanuelramos is an esteemed poet who lately has been solidifying his legacy. Although it may be unsung...Featured and representing RI wherever he goes, truly demonstrating how much of a quiet storm he and his work is. There's no room for debate when taken by the element of surprise and left in shock.
