PGA TOUR CHAMPION!! 🥳🏆

In 2014, a talented 13 year old rocked up for a lesson with me in San Diego. I could tell he was special, he had touch and imagination that I’d never seen before.
He wasn’t overly interested in working on his swing, he just wanted to play golf all the time and compete….so I nudged him along in the right direction without ripping apart his genius.
Ricky ended up being the #1 Junior in America and the #1 Amateur in the world.
In 2020 he got to play with the big boys at the US Open at Winged Foot. It was there he realized he needed a more stable swing and we got to work on making him one of the best ball strikers in the world.
Ricky’s ascension to where he is now has seemed somewhat linear but it hasn’t been without some bumps in the road. Constantly learning and growing. It’s been an honor to be a part of his team and I can’t help but feel like this is the first of many.
As a coach this is such a special day for me to see a kid realize a dream. This is what coaching is all about.
Thanks to everyone that has helped him on his way.

Great first couple days of prep with KH Lee at a course in Georgia.
Here KH is hitting #3 release.
By changing his set up, release rates and wrist conditions (added loft of the club on the arc through more lead wrist extension/ cup), he is able to produce a high, slowly moving pitch shot with plenty of spin.
Short game is always at a premium around this course, and you must be able to change the trajectory, spin and energy on the golf ball. @khlee_golf @cobragolf @pumagolf by @chrismaysongolf

Congrats to Carlos Astiazaran for winning the Cullan Brown Collegiate last week. Carlos shot 9 under for 3 rounds for his first win as a Vanderbilt player.
Carlos transferred from University of Pacific in 2025 after a stellar summer that saw him win the NorthSouth Amateur at Pinehurst and The Mexican Amateur Championship. It hasn’t been smooth sailing since the move, but the game has been trending and it’s great to see him back on top.
With the win he earned SEC player of the week!

WORLD CHAMPIONS! 🥳🏆

Huge congratulations to both Mia Clausen and Anna Fang for winning the World Girls Junior Championship in Canada this week.
I’m so honored to coach 2 of the 3 players picked to represent the United States Team that won. Anna finished 3rd individually with 7 under and Mia was close behind in 5th at 6 under. Incredible achievement before they both head off to Stanford to play college golf.

I’ve coached Seong Hyeon on and off since I started my academy in Korea a few years ago, and he’s one of the most talented teenagers I’ve ever seen. It was great to have him out at Rancho last week to work on course and refine some playing skills. @pgatour @wgp_korea taken in St. George, Utah by @chrismaysongolf

So great to have Jon Yoshihiro up to The Hamptons last week fresh off his W!
Jon won the APGA Tour event at Baltusrol Golf Club in New Jersey the day before he came up. He didn’t need much work but we cleaned up some swing things and focused on his putting and performance work on the course.
Ready to get it for the rest of the year and into Q school now.

It’s been such a privilege to spend time with the great Emily Pedersen the last few months.
When she came to see me at Rancho she was coming off wrist surgery, time off and some poor golf.
I thought we would just be doing performance work, but the swing wasn’t really in a place that was producing consistent and reliable results.
-
We set about making some pretty substantial changes to her to her set up, spine tilt and turn, and her arm structure. You can see from the before and after videos it’s really starting to take shape.
Her golf is becoming more consistent highlighted by strong rounds in all her events the last 6 weeks. Now we need to stick to the blueprint and turn 3 good rounds into 4 and some top finishes.

Before swing at Rancho. Tilted, narrow, long and across the line.

Swing this week at NGLA. Bid body turn and shorter and wider arm structure. taken in Southampton, New York by @chrismaysongolf
