At 18 I packed up and left New York to travel the world. I had the most amazing 19th birthday in Amsterdam, those days were nothing short of excitement for what was to come. Since knowing I wanted to do SAS at 13 years old I’ve waited for my turn at embarking the MV World Odyssey but also dreaded this very post.

Semester At Sea you have changed my life completely. I am so grateful to have had this opportunity to see the world through my eyes. It’s something people always dream of. I counted down the voyages until it would be my turn. Although my original plan was redirected it was never rejected. I’ve stayed true to myself this voyage and hope that my singular self on this tiny boat made a positive impact in someone or something. I was definitely met with some challenges that I would have never faced being in New York. It’s lessons that are sometimes needed.

Being away from technology and soaking up the moments with those who I love are things I won’t ever take for granted. Being able to just laugh freely knowing that life is pretty good is top tier. Wether I passed you on the decks, had one conversation with you, or talked with you everyday, thank you. You’ve shaped who I am and my experience on SAS.

I am forever grateful for all the support I’ve gotten throughout the years. It’s definitely a big reason on why I was able to do SAS in the first place. Especially those people who I’ve yapped their ears off about SAS for the past 7 years!

A moment for the boat.

A year ago today I embarked on the MV World Odyssey for the first time. I spent 4 incredible months traveling, chatting with friends, occasionally skipping global studies, watching the ocean, and talking to the moon. For that I will spend a lifetime missing it. SAS is truly a life changer and has taught me the true meaning of expect the unexpected.

There’s so much I can say about this program and there’s probably a lot I’ve already said that everyone is sick of me talking about it but it truly just is a once in a lifetime experience. Not a day goes by where I don’t think about semester at sea and I’m grateful that something as unique as this is able to touch my heart a year later.

Travel far or travel close, there’s a whole world out there for you.
