Fancy and I are taking on the 30 mile Dog Walk Challenge this September to help raise money for the American Cancer Society!

Our goal is to raise $500 to help the ACS improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through lifesaving research and patient support.

A little about our foster poodle, Watson 🩵

Watson is proving to be a natural at trick training. He is a little calmer, and knows how to focus, especially if you have a good treat. He quickly learned a “touch” cue and is even learning how to crawl. He will fetch a toy a couple of times, but he prefers to wrestle and chase his brother. He is a fast runner and enthusiastically engages in a fun game of chase when you invite him!

Watson likes to follow his loved ones around and would love nothing more than to snuggle on the couch with his human!

A little about our foster poodle, Holmes 💙

Holmes loves to play with toys! He will carry a soft toy around the house and is crazy for a tennis ball! You can quickly get his attention with a squeaky toy. He plays great fetch and tug, and he is quickly learning a “drop it” cue. Holmes is the larger of the two brothers. His perfect day would include a lot of playtime and cuddles. When it’s not time to play, he settles down quickly and easily on his bed. One of his funny quirks is he groans loudly (and hilariously!) when he’s relaxing.

Run, don’t walk! Holmes and Watson’s adoption application is live!! 🐩🐩

These perfect poodle boys spent a month and a half in the shelter and have been our foster poochies for a week now! They have stolen our hearts!

In a perfect world, they would find a home together with someone who has as much love to give as they do! (and in an even more perfect world, someone nearby so Fancy and I can visit them 🥰)

I’ll post their applications on my stories and save them in my highlights. They are such special boys! They have brought us so much joy in the short time that we’ve had them 💛☀️

Their adoption is through Dixie Girl Rescue, a wonderful organization who does so much good for animals who deserve better.

Holmes and Watson 💙💙 I love these boys so much! Their adoption application will be up soon. I’m already sad about them leaving, but I know their new family will fall in love with them as quickly as we have!

A little about our foster dogs:
Holmes and Watson are handsome, cream colored standard poodles, ages 4 and 5. They are both very affectionate, easygoing, and happy boys. They are eager for lots of cuddles and praise. They are total love bugs!

Both dogs are intelligent, food motivated, and pick up on training quickly. They already know some basics commands like sit and shake, and they are rapidly learning more skills such as leave it, look at me, down, and stay. We are practicing waiting at doorways and walking politely on a leash. They would both probably enjoy a family that continues trick training with them to work their smart poodle noodles!

Watson and Holmes are polite and very well behaved. They are house trained and typically do their business outside right away. They both really enjoy car rides and will jump right in when you open the door. They are great eaters and should put on a few needed pounds quickly. Neither are destructive, and they love a cow ear to chew. They exist in the house well with our dog and are happy to play with her. They are not food or toy aggressive around our dog or each other.

Both dogs like their crates, and they know to get in their crates without prompting for meal time. If the door is left open, they will often choose to nap in their crates. At bedtime, they walk in their crates with a simple “get in your crate” cue, and they sleep without a peep all night. They are very happy to greet you in the morning with lots of tail wags, and they will lean their bodies into you for pets.

Holmes and Watson are very gentle and so, so sweet. Both boys look at us with hearts in their eyes, and I know they have so much love to give.

A dramatic reveal…grooming before and after for our foster poodles! 🐩🐩

Holmes and Watson were covered in painful mats, filthy, had long beards, and could barely see through their overgrown hair.

Now, they are handsome poodles again and feel SO MUCH better!! All of a sudden they are playful and giving us goofy grins!

Unfortunately, they were so matted they had to be shaved pretty short, but we know they are so much happier without the thick matted hair in this Alabama heat!

Watson was given a more traditional poodle cut with his shaved face, and Holmes was left a little longer and more doodle-y. We think they both look fantastic! 💙💙

If you are a first time poodle parent and interested in adoption, please know that brushing is a daily habit and grooming is an expensive necessity. They don’t deserve to be matted like they were ever again!

Meet Holmes and Watson! 🐩🐩 our foster dogs!

Two AKC registered standard poodles were surrendered to Shelby Humane over a month and a half ago. We will be fostering them until they find a new home!

They are 4 and 5 years old and so, so sweet. They have happy, goofy poodle personalities! They received veterinary care today (they both have the worst ear infections EVER) and will be groomed tomorrow.

I’ll be sharing more about them as they settle in and we get to know them. Right now, they are enamored with Fancy (duh) and love following Eric and me around. It is clear that they love their people, which makes me even more sad that they ended up in a shelter. They are potty trained, sleep easily in a crate, and are very polite overall! We will be working on refining a few of their manners, but they are overall good, lovey boys.
