Last night in our “dinner and discipleship” group we began a new series on the life of prayer as disciples of Jesus. Our “dinner and discipleship” group is for any one in the 20’s and 30’s (we are flexible with that bracket! Don’t worry!) who is interested in fellowship, building Christian friendships, and most importantly having and honest and safe environment to study scripture and discuss our discipleship to Jesus through various topics! Join us on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month! Message for more details! by @christchurch

We are excited to reveal these amazing images that were drawn for Christ Church Woodside as we approach our 130 year anniversary celebration this year on Sunday October 4th. These beautiful works of were done by the amazing Bridget Heffner who drew the perfect design. The image consists of our church’s altar Christus Rex which is the resurrected Jesus extending his arms wide open ready to embrace all. The image also features the famous Queens unisphere globe which is simultaneously a symbol of Queens but also the world. Certainly the gospel is for ALL the world and the world is represented in our beautifully diverse congregation and our amazing borough.

There are two variations of the design one featuring our congregation’s mission statement: Celebrating and Sharing God’s Gospel for the World throughout the World’s Borough!

The second variation features our theme for our 130 celebration: Looking to Jesus as the Author and Perfecter of our Faith at Christ Lutheran Church since 1896.

So excited to share these wonderful designs and start using them for our congregation! Thank you once again to Bridget Heffner for your beautiful artwork for our congregation! by @christchurch

Jesus never ceases to be the author and perfecter of our faith, providing us with new life in God. Greetings in the Lord!

We are fast approaching Holy Week, which begins this coming Sunday, March 29th, with our 11 a.m. Palm Sunday Divine Service. During this holiest of weeks, we follow our Lord Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem all the way through His celebration of the Passover meal with His disciples, where He gives the gift of holy communion, and then on to His Passion, Crucifixion, and glorious Resurrection from the dead. Jesus knew His Father’s will was to undergo this saving work during the Jewish Passover, when God’s people gathered together in Jerusalem from all over the world to celebrate God’s work of redemption and liberation. Holy Week is our Christian Passover, as Jesus became for us the lamb who redeems us from sin, death, and the devil. Because it is our holy Passover, let us, too, gather together as God’s people in Christ and celebrate our crucified and risen Lord Jesus! Our faith in our Lord Jesus is not simply for us as individuals but is meant to be celebrated in and as a family of faith, as the adopted people of God. It is in our communal witness of the death and resurrection of Jesus, as we gather together, that we proclaim Jesus until He comes again.

We pray, then, that we will be able to celebrate this holy time with you this year at Christ Church. You are treasured and beloved by God in Christ and in our hearts. We desire to celebrate with you God’s victory over sin in His Son Jesus and our life in the new creation of His resurrection! But even if you are unable to join us at Christ Church for Holy Week, we continue to be here for you with the love of Jesus whenever you need! We love you and hope to see you!

We recently had our church’s celebration of the lunar new year! One of the amazing aspects of our congregational life together is how we have so many wonderful beautiful cultures represented at Christ Church Woodside. The good news of the gospel is truly for all peoples across the whole world. We love being a family of faith that has truly come together from the ends of the earth to be gathered in God’s love in Jesus! It’s a love we love to share! Happy year of the horse! by @christchurch
