how lucky am i to be loved by you joey, a love so pure, the kind that lifted me effortlessly. every morning you gave me a million kisses and demanded scratches in return, then waited excitedly for food, your tail wagging like it held all the happiness in the world, you constantly reminded me how joyful life could be.

you filled our home with life and laughter, crazy over squeaky toys but never quite knowing how to play fetch, barking at everyone out the window like you were the biggest dog on the block. your favorite place was the beach or sunbathing on my bed, soaking in all the sun like nothing else mattered.

nights feel so quiet without the sound of you licking your paws as you settled in, a little ritual that showed how safe and loved you felt at home. the way you would curl up beside me like a croissant, loft on top of the sofa like a cat, or press close to my chest as you fell asleep made the world feel gentle and whole.

i didn’t know my heart could love so deeply. so small, the weight of one 15lb dumbbell, yet you were my entire world, my constant, my comfort, my safest place.

rest easy my sweet baby, i know you’re safe with max. thank you for 12+ incredible years of laughter, adventure, and unconditional love. you left paw prints on all our hearts, i’d choose you in every lifetime. 🐾

thank you to everyone who met joey, who played with him, loved him, or laughed at his silly antics. he was a fighter, and passed peacefully in my arms at home, surrounded by his family, leaving behind a love that will never fade.♥︎
