All I can say is “ God I thank you”! If you only knew all of the miracles that have happened up until now you’d understand how absolutely thankful I am to God. I’m so blessed to be surrounded by amazing women who will celebrate and pray for me. Community is such an amazing gift that I will cherish forever. One of the core values for both of our businesses is community outreach! While it was scary, it warmed my heart to partner with my husband and share culture through food. We had an amazing turnout (way more people than either of us expected) and got to explore the culture of East Africa. Hearing that the food tasted authentic from people that have lived and eaten in East Africa was the cherry on top. Do it scared. Do it nervous. Just do it and God will blow your mind. This year celebrating Juneteenth felt more special with Omari. I loved seeing his fascination with everything and showing him how beautiful it is to be black. We got a gorgeous hair show and special wedding ceremony (a real life wedding). I got my hair braided, smiles from ear to ear, and joy. This weekend I was given the opportunity to debut @exploreumoja publicly!

This was a huge first step for me and made it feel all too real! But I learned that I am on the right track with what I am building and the desire for cross-cultural education is there.

What made this more special is I was surrounded and supported by my family. Thank you to my wife, sister and my son who joined me as I debut the Umoja World experience for the first time.
