We’re running it back because it’s relevant! 🔄 not only does this message fit right into this month’s devotions, but using our God-given gifts to honor God will always be part of our message at Christian Miss.
⬇️
In Matthew 25:14-30, Jesus tells the parable of the talents. One servant received five. One received two. One received one. But here’s the detail people often miss: one talent was extremely valuable & worth years of wages. The third servant didn’t receive something small. He received something significant… and still hid it.

Sometimes we do the same thing. We look at someone else’s gifts and think ours aren’t impressive enough. We think we need more skill, more confidence, more influence for God to use us. We are sometimes too cautious on our faith walk, afraid that we will mess up with the Lord.
But, God doesn’t ask us to compare, require us to be perfect, nor is He easily angered. He does, however, command us to be courageous, obedient, faithful stewards of what He’s given us.

You don’t have to have the skill set someone else has.
You don’t have to be the best in the room. God uses us right where we are when we’re willing to use what He has placed in our hands.

‼️ Don’t bury your talent because of fear or because it doesn’t look like someone else’s.

Did you know you can be gifted and still need practice and guidance to develop your gift? Yep! Both can be true!

Your voice may need training. Your creative idea may need work. Your leadership skill may require that you continue learning.

Nevertheless, God gave you something valuable, and how you care for it matters. You don’t have to get discouraged because you’re still growing. Keep showing up, receiving feedback, and putting in the work. Roxann’s a living example that practice is one way you honor the One who gave you the gift. She has a beautiful voice she loves to develop and share with others through song.

God gave you gifts, and your generation needs girls who are willing to use them for Him. Girls who will pray, “Lord, You gave this to me. Help me take care of it and use it for Your glory.” You don’t have to be famous, older, or have more money for God to use you. You don’t even have to feel fully ready- just start with your yes. You can start right where you are, with what you have. Your obedience today can make a difference in someone’s life.

That thing you keep saying is “just a little something you do” is actually something God can use…and He wants to.

You might draw. Maybe you’re an encourager. You might be great at making people feel welcome. The point is there’s something already in your hands that could be a blessing to someone else.

October’s devotion series, Use What You’ve Got (For God), is all about recognizing your gifts, putting them into practice, and using them to serve others so that God is glorified.

Can you believe a whole month of devotions has already gone by? 👀

Here are 4 things we learned in September that you need to remember:

YOU ARE
Deeply known by God.
He knows your thoughts, your ways, and the words you haven’t even spoken … you are fully known by God. 🤍

Not defined by labels.
Labels may describe something about you, but they don’t get to define all of you. Let God’s truth shape your identity.

Not ruled by man’s approval.
People’s approval should never carry more weight than your obedience to God.

Secure in who He says you are.
You are loved and belong to Him. You can stand confidently in who God says you are.

Keep these truths nearby in case life tries to toss you something that challenges your true identity.

What happens to your identity when the thing you used to define yourself changes?

In our final September devotion on identity, our National Christian Teen, Vanessa, shares what she has been learning as a college freshman…new surroundings and uncertain circumstances may change where you are, but they do not change Whose you are.

✝️ Colossians 3:1–3 reminds us to set our hearts and minds on things above because our lives are hidden with Christ in God. Our value is not found in the temporary things of this world. Our identity is secure in Christ.📖

Vanessa leaves us with an important question: What area of your life is defining your identity right now? Is it Christ?

Take that question to God. Return to His Word. Allow Him to remind you that before you are a student, friend, employee, titleholder, or achiever- you are His.
