If you are training to perform professionally on stage you need to have a healthy technique but it also has to sound good!

Don’t accept the notion that you have to sound horrible for a period of time in order to improve. A beautiful, balanced singing voice will also be healthy and resilient to the needs of a professional performing contract.

Your first singing lesson with a new teacher shouldn’t make you feel vocally tired. But it shouldn’t, also, make you sound small and lifeless. If you don’t sound better pretty quickly into your lessons you should start asking questions.

❤️ A summary of my 10 days of #birthday #reflection . I am so grateful 🙏 for the many who have taken time to impart #wisdom #adviceforlife and #goodteachingpractice to me. This is what makes me a #goodteacher - not the certificates, degrees, or institutions I am associated with.

📝Excellent practitioners teach out of a place of abundance and gratitude, not out of a need to #rightthewrongs of the poor instruction they’ve received themselves.

❤️One of the cool things about being in a more mature phase of life is having the privilege to interact with other accomplished motivated women.

💪I cannot wait to get stuck into this book this summer, written by the incredible @bazmoffat who, in addition to being a best selling author, is also one of the most organised, cool mums I know.

🩺Those of you who know me know how strongly I feel about women’s health and how it impacts women singing voices. Men’s and women’s voices are not the same, yet women still rely so heavily on male dominated and generated information and advice about their voices.

🙏We need more female vocal coaches in the industry and more women weighing into issues on social media. Our industry is shockingly behind in this area, but unless, as women, we change how we behave to each other, this dynamic will never change.

Leading groups in Cardiff for @timrichardssingingteacher and @howthevoiceworks is just such a pleasure.

I have always loved playing with my voice, and the humility that comes from challenging your skills within the bounds of a specific paradigmj like #estill brings focus and continued clarity to my practice.
