Exactly one year ago Gracie walked into my makeshift studio to work with me. Before I started explaining my haphazard approach to quilt cutting, pattern organization or garment construction, I made her sit down and listen to me list off all the traumatic experiences I had working for other creatives. It terrified me to think of the ways this could go wrong and I wanted her to feel encouraged to share her thoughts and ideas with me.
If you’ve ever purchased a quilted item from me, know that Gracie has had her hands on it. She cuts, she sews, she labels, she stands with me at markets, she styles models on photoshoots, she names products, and is endlessly patient with me. None of this could happen without her.
