Pigeon Key Island @pigeonkey 🏝️ Located in @thefloridakeys 🍃
. . . . .
Is hidden beneath the Old Seven Mile Bridge sits one of the most fascinating little islands in the Florida Keys… Pigeon Key!
. . . .
Once home to the workers building Henry Flagler’s Overseas Railroad, this tiny island played a massive role in connecting the Keys to mainland Florida. 🚂
. . . . .
Walking these paths feels like stepping back in time where hurricanes, engineering, and determination shaped the island chain we know today.🤠
. . . . .
From turquoise water and rusting history to stories of survival and ambition, Pigeon Key is a reminder that the Keys are more than just paradise… they’re layered with incredible history.

On World Turtle Day, hundreds gathered at Higgs Beach in Key West to watch Lily J, a juvenile green sea turtle, return to the Atlantic Ocean after surviving a devastating boat strike.

After months of rehabilitation by The Turtle Hospital, Lily J was successfully released back into the wild during an emotional community event led by General Manager Bette Zirkelbach.

Moments like this are a reminder that conservation is not just science and rescue work it’s people showing up, caring, and giving wildlife a second chance.

Filmed today in Key West, Florida.
