The Lake

The city compresses you
The lake stretches you

I hear geese and loons
not traffic

waves and sun to sooth
my bones and mind

this is truly where I belong
amongst the wildlife

no sirens ,no neighbours
just me and the rocks on the beach

I like rocks
especially the ones shaped like hearts

no pressure to perform or produce
just the moon to howl at like
drunken coyotes

even when it rains it gives you permission
something about grey days that give you a soft landing

I hear the waves crash on the rocks
bringing that soul to shore
