Introducing @christopher_krause__ as part of the "GUTE GESELLSCHAFT" Abschlussausstellung 2025

"Christopher Krause's extraordinary series of works of children's playgrounds captures the essence of these places in a graphically painterly way that evokes memories of his own childhood as well as special moments of growing up.

Krause's pictures are characterized by a vibrant color scale that sometimes makes his depictions illuminate as if in a brilliant sunset. The playgrounds, deserted, seem almost like magical places, captured in the transition period (blue hour) between day and night and are reminiscent of the carefree hours of childhood, when playgrounds were still a world full of adventure, but also of the melancholy moments of youth, when these places sometimes became places of retreat. They thus symbolize the process between two phases of life and open the (adult) viewer's view of past stages of development, which can occasionally still be transferred to the here and now.

Christopher Krause lives in Berlin and is currently a student and prospective master student of Prof. Friederike Feldmann at the Berlin-Weißensee Art Academy"

See you on Friday ❕19:00 ❕🏰 @48stundennk

The Softimage project focuses on the poetic view of digital and analogue elements in the visual arts, based on the latest (post-)digital innovations in artistic media. The exhibition includes works by 12 students of the weissensee school of art and design berlin (@kunsthochschuleberlin / @khb_malerei / @khb_bildhauerei )as part of the ‚Softimage‘ seminar led by @volobevza . Their artistic endeavours mainly revolve around the exploration of analogue and digital practices in the fine arts, specifically in the contemporary context of the fluidification of images that are shaped by constant editing and change.
From painting on canvas to prints made with machines and 3D tools to installative works, the projects reflect a diverse artistic landscape and highlights the perspectives and possibilities that arise from the symbiosis of analogue and digital techniques.

After three years of intensive work, the results and research of the seminar are presented in the group exhibition at CANK @cank.berlin. The exhibition thus offers the opportunity to gain an insight into the students‘ artistic development. Thematized in the show is a variety of topics and concepts such as ‚poor image‘ by Hito Steyerl (Delphine Wigger), the use of photo templates in painting (Christopher Krause, Leo Schilz), Al-generated body images and digital interfaces in painting (Luka Keresman, Viola Del Monte), digital drawings and photogrammetrically generated objects (Katja Breder, Anton Kruse), operative images (Gabriela Lesmes López), screenshots as a medium (by Lara Jordan), image composition in Photoshop (Fruzsina Kiss, Hannes Hochmuth, William Ye) and finally the materialisation of digitally generated artefacts, the simulation of a simulation. by @christopher_krause__

Offene Rechnung

13.04.25 – 24.05.25

— Text: Devi Sund Rojo, Christopher Krause
