Congratulations to Jaime Torres Carmona and everyone at Canopy on Encuentro Square receiving a 2026 AIA Chicago Award for Design Excellence. Canopy served as both master planner and building architect for this fully affordable development in Logan Square, where cultural expression, environmental stewardship, as well as trauma-informed design shaped the work at every scale. It shows. We visited the site in May and again in November of last year to get all the coverage the story needed, from the interior to the facades to the courtyard as it filled in. I feel that designing for underserved sectors like affordable housing is incredibly important work... and Canopy does it with real care. Encuentro was developed by LUCHA and evergreenrealestategroup, built by Leopardo Construction and ALL Construction Group, with landscape by Site Design Group. Well deserved, everyone!

Had a great day photographing this kindergarten addition for @wightco. My son was home from college and assisted me chasing the sun across some seriously cool architecture.

Recent work at 111 S. Wacker. I keep revisiting this lovely structure by @goettschpartners whenever I'm trying out new gear. This time, I'm working on a video for @arca_swiss / @arcaswissusa that we'll drop next week. by @christopherbarrettphoto
