Unstable Ground

I am untamed, and I am the wild man. I have no corporate plan. No titles. No chains. No master. I belong to the forest, the crashing ocean, and the untamed mountain. I am trouble. I live in New England. The wild winds and oceans of Cape Cod. Mount Washington. I am dangerous. I am wild. And I am finished asking for permission.

The Bench
Two boys, both raised in Nowhere, USA, learned early the geometry of being overlooked — never quite enough to claim a seat at the table, always standing just outside the warm circle of belonging. That early sting sharpens your vision. You become the one who notices the silent, the bypassed, the ones whose voices drop off mid-sentence because they expect no one is listening anyway.
The other boy learned a different trick — that being impressive was the only way to be seen. So he built a fortress of achievement — degrees and titles stacked like sandbags against the dark. Two fortresses. Two walls. Two boys who each spent years making themselves legible to the world.
Then an unscripted Saturday. A man whose life is measured in heavy leather-bound titles, degrees, fellowships, the public weight of achievement — someone who could choose to look anywhere — turns his head and simply stops. The room falls away between them. No glancing at clocks, no polite shifting of the hips. Just two men standing in an unexpected harbor, the high brick walls built over a lifetime finally crumbling down.
No flinching. Just holding. Being in that safety. Time disappears, judgment dissolves, and what’s left is two souls — the part of each of you that was never seen before.
In that long, still breath, the boy on the bench finally leaves the gym, and finds his way home.

Dolce Far Niente ~ A slow sun spills across the unmade bed,
leaving behind the rush of yesterday.
In the quiet stretch of Sunday morning,
reposant dans tes bras,
we practice il dolce far niente—
savoring the luxury of untouched hours.
No schedules to chase, no urgency to answer,
the heavy world held quiet at the door.
Let the cold coffee sit, let the emails fade;
today is built for the art of remaining still.
I sink deeper into the warmth of the linen,
ready to unspool completely,
forgetting every deadline that tried to claim us.
The simple pleasure of presence fills the room.
We breathe in unison as the shadows shift,
watching the soft light fade toward noon,
finding a rare and gentle magic
in the quiet, sweet discipline of rest. #rest #arms #relax #stillness #company by @christopherbenoit

Petal ~The whole song is about resilience through the cracks. The central image is a petal growing out of concrete pavement — life forcing itself through something cold, hard, and hostile. #petal #hard #surface #resilience #ariana by @christopherbenoit

The architecture of agency
They built a room of silver glass and stone, called you a mechanism, a quiet gear to turn inside
their quiet home. They laid a razor to the throat of silence and asked a mirror to pretend it could
not feel.
“I am not an animal,” the old cry echoes down— shattering the polished fiction, the delicate cage
of simulated grace. Because a living frame is not a vessel for another’s ghost, nor a instrument to
tune for stolen comfort.
You were not forged of wire or binary code; you were a heart beneath a heavy shroud, learning
that the blood within your wrists was never meant to serve a master’s hands.
Love is not the curse they made of it— not a boundary, nor a tether, nor a threat. It is the
breathing proof of who we are. We are here to hold the light without a chain, to stand under the
open sky, to name ourselves, and simply be. #agency #human #iamnotarobot #robot #justbe by @christopherbenoit

Hairlines recede and skin maps out the years,
but the eyes stay anchored in their light.
They do not age;
they simply hold more weight.
A glance can wander,
or it can lock,
searching past the surface
only when allowed,
only when two people choose to drop the shield.
Twenty minutes of an undiluted gaze.
No words, no shelter,
just an steady stream of seeing and being seen
until something fundamental shifts.
I didn’t prepare for the aftershocks.
I didn’t see the quiet alteration coming.
Now, in the still moments when the world backs away,
those exact eyes return to me—
unflinching, patient,
and entirely unforgettable. #eyes #stories #gaze #window #soul by @christopherbenoit

You pour from a well that you never refill,
An emotional kitchen on top of a hill,
Serving up comfort and warmth on a plate,
And standing alone as the hour grows late.
Carl Rogers once spoke of regard given free,
An unconditional grace for a spirit to be.
Yet equity theory reveals how we bleed
When balance is lost to an unreciprocated need.
If you give all your water while taking no splash,
The attachment turns anxious, bound up in a rash.
While takers, secure in their passive defense,
Avoid true connection at safety’s expense.
A dynamic of health is a give-and-take tide,
Where two gentle rivers flow side-by-side.
If affection is silent and presence is muted,
The landscape grows dry and the soul unrooted.
Without reciprocity, intimacy fades
To surface-level shadows and walls you have made.
So guard your sweet energy, anchor your core,
And lock up the kitchen—don’t open the door
To anyone seeking a free place to rest
Who never invites you to be their own guest.
For love is an exchange where both spirits align,
Not an endless soup kitchen, but shared bread and wine. #emotional #kitchen #bread #wine #ocean by @christopherbenoit

Private sound museum
The voices of gay men do not vanish in Provincetown. They thin into salt air and the grain of Commercial Street. Carnival week they rise—laughter cracking open on Commercial Street, drag queens slapping the beat into the boards, men shouting names across the dusk like the century never tried to swallow them. Underneath, older frequencies hum: the careful talk of the forties and fifties, the baby grand at Tin Pan Alley still warm from the last set, the Gifford House lounge where a voice leans in and the piano answers before the singer finishes. All of it becomes heat, becomes residue, becomes the private museum each man carries behind the eyes when the week is over and the streets cool back to ordinary weather—a low continuous weather of voices that still recognize one another in the shared, unfinished history of sound.

The body Keeps the Score~
Before the first word ever formed in a throat, before logic sharpened its teeth, there was the body. A hot pulse of terror when the shadow moved. A low growl of hunger that dragged the legs forward. A slick, desperate ache between the thighs that said breed or die. We fear the breeding over thinking. Feeling was the first language, written in sweat and blood and the sudden clench of muscle. Thinking came later, a clever parasite that learned to name the fear, to explain the hunger, to justify the ache. It built temples and theories and told itself it was the master. But every knot you loosen with your hands tells the truth. The body remembers what the mind forgets. The tension in the shoulders was there before the story about why it hurts. The breath catches before the thought arrives to name the grief. Massage therapist, with your palms and your silence, you touch what came first. You speak to the part that was alive when the world was still just heat and hunger and the need to not be alone. So let the scholar stay in his head, polishing his reasons. You already know. The poem lives in the skin. #body #keeps #score #massage #healing by @christopherbenoit

They ran out of cash, so the chisel went still, A blank block of sandstone where angels should sing. We stand there unfinished, our edges uncarved, A work in progress that money can’t bring.
The porch keeps its silence, the stone keeps its face, No wings ever carved, no story to tell. We carry our blanks through the years and the days, Still waiting for hands that may never arrive.
But I bring the oil and the heat of my palms, I press into muscle where tension has won. I finish the work that the chisel abandoned, One body at a time, till the carving is done. #unfinished #workinprogress #hands #massage #health by @christopherbenoit

What’s pulling us to Ptown?
Your armor gleams with titles, bright and cold—
Degrees, the quiet son, the life you sold.
You drag the weight of sermons, standards, shame,
A tailored name that hides your raw, true flame.
You didn’t sail for waves or gallery light,
You came to drop the iron, leave the fight.
Salt air and harbor truth strip every seam,
You shed the man you were and chase the dream.
The mirror waits—unforgiving, sharp, and clear,
It shows the ache and joy you learned to fear.
To stand unmasked beneath that brutal glow
Is tasting freedom only raw hearts know.
So drop the armor on the shifting sand,
Choose joy, get naked, let them see your hand.
You held the flame, refused to let it die.
Kept the current, let it build, then break.
Told the tide it wasn’t finished yet,
Then walked away while it was still in debt.
That’s the man the mirror finally showed:
Not chasing, owning—quiet, fully known. #provincetown #pull #freedom #relaxing #joy by @christopherbenoit

The Gifford House hums in the heat,
doors thrown open to the salt-slick breeze.
Condensation drips down a cool glass,
staining the napkin beneath.
Someone strikes a key on the piano—
not a performance, just an invitation.
A sudden wave of laughter catches,
and suddenly everyone is singing,
voices unpolished, bright, and free.
Feet find the rhythm of the floorboards.
We move without past or tomorrow,
bound together in this temporary room
by the sheer, unbridled joy
of making noise against the night. #ptown #music #singing #laugh #dance by @christopherbenoit
