A selection of my fav snaps from my portrait shoot with author John Ironmonger @johnironmonger (and his beautiful dog Rosie), my first portrait shoot for @obsnewreview 😊 thank you so, so much to @_lyndalaird for the commission! We had a lovely little wander around the estuary near John’s home, fighting with the wind to keep my reflector propped up. The feature is out on Sunday if you fancy grabbing a copy!

From the Manics to Yussef Dayes, from Pitbull’s 20,000 baldies to motel-hopping in Clarkston with Gene Chandler. Sound Affects last night was all about art, photography, expression and excellent music. Large gratitude to our guest speakers @bazfrancis8 , @maiaroman_design and @christopherbethell. Guest speaker #3 in Brighton tomorrow: @christopherbethell is a documentary photographer. He’s worked in music and journalism for over a decade, exploring a huge variety of subcultures. He’s worked with Vice, The Guardian, The Face, Time Out, Kerrang amongst others. At Sound Affects, Chris will be telling us about his Duke of Earl project. A journey that spans jazz music, mythology, the fringes of the USA and a search for meaning. Here are some photos to whet your appetite. Talk about dream commissions - what is better than driving around the UK, meeting a load of four-legged fashionistas and photographing them for a fashion editorial in everyone’s favourite new pop culture mag @ralph.mag This piece was originally meant to be a gallery of the best dressed doggies at Crufts - but there were surprisingly few K-9s in clobber this year. And then I suggested to @joshjoshjones that I could do a stupid piece called The Housedogs of Cheshire - photographing the posh dogs of the county, but I had surprisingly little bite on this. So, after a big Instagram binge, I found the pooches that appear here and very politely asked for enough budget to go meet them all.   Thank you so much to everyone involved!

And now for something completely different. I’ve been unwell today with a pounding headache so for once I put my laptop down and allowed myself to mess around with something new. A few weeks back, when half asleep, I fell for an Instagram advert selling a little plastic camera with thermal printing built in. The company was 100% some dodgy dropshipping site and I only clocked that after a coffee. But! Luckily! The camera actually turned up today and it’s so much fun. I’ve started a little journal just for me which I’ve been sticking some of the prints in, doodling and writing whatever came into my head. Then this evening while watching the tellybox, I saw some of the prints distorted through my glass of water & thought they looked pretty cool. So the past hour has been spent messing around with that - a few selfies of me and a couple of appropriated portraits of Jacob Elordi & Marilyn Monroe (not sure why these were the two shlebs that popped in my head for this but here we are). My second commission for @theobserveruk and first piece in the newspaper (lil pic of the feature on the last slide). I’ve been wanting to work for The Observer for years but it’s never quite happened - until now! And thank you so much to @_lyndalaird and @leemartin394 for this 🙏 it’s felt good to have a toe back in covering politics, something I’ve not done so much of in a while. P.S. I was pretty chuffed with slide 2, I was photographing this cafe hoping something symbolic would come into shot and in rolls a rent-to-kill van, lol.
