Anyone with a dog knows that their dog is the greatest dog there is, was and ever will be.

No other pup was ever so adorable, no companion so loyal, no defender so brave. There was no sun warmer, no peace more tranquil, no happiness so complete as that which one shared with this great dog’s being.

Yet even the greatest dog must one day rejoin the pack whence it came. And those blessed few whom that dog has chosen to truly, eternally love, are the only people in the world who’ve ever felt love without condition. Not just any old ordinary unconditional love, mind you. A dog’s love. And not just any old dog.

But the greatest dog who ever lived.

May you all have a chance in your life to have the greatest of dogs. And when that dog is gone my world will stop for you, that I may grieve your loss and celebrate your blessing and wonder what it must have been like to know the love of the greatest dog who ever lived, and how much richer your life must be.

And I will wish you the safest of journeys through life. And I will hope you always hold that dog’s love in your heart, exactly as it is, was and forever will be…

Until you join your dog in whatever beyond there is.

And you are once again complete. by @christophermcquarrie
