Excited to be playing drums with the legendary Ebo Taylor for his upcoming Australian Tour! Ebo is the king of Ghanaian Afrobeat & Highlife and huge inspiration for me! Studying my Masters at Uni has been great but not always so rootin tootin. Have found some time here and there to get out bush, spend time on the bike and make some new music with new directions, new energies with some new and familiar faces. Plenty coming. Was such a dream to play live for ELEVATE @melbjazzfestival curated by the amazing @mikegurrieri 🥁 @joshkellymusic was transcendental, @middlenamedanceband proved they are the 🐐party band and @jazzycatlady @djjnett and Mike brought their impeccable selections all night. This night really made me feel so blessed to be a part of the scene we have here in Naarm, the crossover between Jazz & Electronic sounds. A little @nikbaertsch inspired shaker ritual in this pre-spring sun to celebrate my first gig in a while and the first time playing the Ritual Music record in my hometown! Elevate curated by the amazing @mikegurrieri 21st Oct @toffintown Naarm as part of @melbjazzfestival After spending most of my time lately riding my bike (inspiration and zen of different kind) working and studying I was beginning to wonder when the inspiration would return…but after Mike asked me to be a part of this night the musical gods have begun delivering again in small snippets here and there that have really lit the fire inspiring some new sounds and the desire to play a show! Looking forward to channeling this energy and flow alongside @joshkellymusic (EP Launch) & @middlenamedanceband and 3 of my all time favourite DJ’s Shio aka @jazzycatlady @djjnett and @mikegurrieri Jazz Dance til late! Feeling incredibly honoured to have been asked by @apaulmac to work on an updated version of his iconic track 'Just The Thing' for the 20th anniversary of it's release. Paul called me up a while ago and said he wanted to do a new version of the track. We chatted about possible directions it could take and the energy he wanted to create. I've know Paul for a while now so I felt like we were very much on the same wavelength. Paul sent through the original stems and I started playing around with lots of drum ideas and some blending of percussion and melodic stuff. We sent stuff back and forth over the next little while. Once I heard the piano riff section he'd done towards the end I knew it was done! I'm so proud of the track and feel so blessed to know Paul and to get to work on this with him. It’s been a long time since I last played live! Let’s see if I remember how this goes shall we? Excited to play the Ritual Music live for the first time. Meanjin Jan 2nd! Today I’m so excited to release ‘Ritual Remixes’ featuring three incredible remixes from @allysha_joy @setwun & @tenbrains 🎉 OUT NOW (link in bio) I feel so incredibly honoured to have these 3 incredible artists remix my work. After having remixed many artists myself this is the first time I’ve had others remix my tracks. It was such an incredible, truly emotional and spiritual experience. So I’m pretty much back to full health after the crash! A plate and a few screws later and my collarbone is good to go ✌🏻Now finally getting around to posting about being on one of my favourite shows, on one of my favourite stations @worldwide.fm with the amazing @sampology we had an in depth chat about Ritual Music and Sam very kindly highlights each track.
