It Begins With Hamtramck - Jon Sniezek aka @jss.foto exhibition opens Saturday, 15.August ‘26 at @christopherstreetgallery that’s with the @passengerrecovery community center!

“IT BEGINS WITH HAMTRAMCK See through my perspective of Hamtramck. A place my family has been a part of for more than 100 years. I choose to document day-to-life, the people, and events as I acclimate back to the city my family has since all left. Born on Charest in ‘97, my life began in Hamtramck. My father moved my family to New Baltimore in 2001, being the first of our family to leave. In the next year, my parents would split up and I would spend my weekends in my grandmother’s small apartment on Belmont. In 2021, I moved back to the city on my own, with the goal to document the beauty and culture of the city.”

Hamtramck’s Neighborhood Arts Festival takes over the city

Hamtramck not only experienced a
perfect fall weather day last Saturday,
but also a city-wide arts festival.
Hamtramck artists were once again
in the spotlight in the 16th annual
Neighborhood Arts Festival this past
weekend, and, by all accounts, it was
another smashing success.
“Each year we develop and grow HNAF,
and this year we’re excited to offer
such a vast selection of events, as that
so represents our Hamtramck commu-
nity!” said co-organizer Timothy Price.
“Also, we’re honored to coordinate and
partner with such a variety of artists, ve-
nues, and arts and cultural institutions,
along with Hamtramck businesses!” he
added.
Price had earlier described the event as
a “loosely curated showcase of artists,
writers and musicians.”
He continued:
“This isn’t your typical festival; partici-
pating creators in the community host
the audiences in their home studios, on
front porches, or in parks, coffee shops,
or galleries around the city.
“It’s a community-organized festival
that allows anyone in the city and the
surrounding neighborhood to contribu-
te to, or host, an event.
“The HNAF embraces the idea that
art is for everyone – all are welco-
me to participate, and all are welco-
me to tour the artists’ workspaces
and attend the day- (and night-) long
events.”

This week at Passenger is full of celebration and artistic expression!

As you all know, our Wyandotte location officially opens its doors today, September 30. This is an exciting time for our team and the community we will be serving. Please follow @passengerrecovery.downriver for all updates!

Tonight, we will host “Oh That Meeting?” at both locations at 5pm. 🕔

This Saturday in our @christopherstreetgallery, we will be taking part in the annual @hamtramckneighborhoodartsfest. Please stop by, say hello and check out Jon Sniezek’s incredible exhibition “It Begins with Hamtramck” before his photos go away at the end of October 📸

We will also be revamping Art Wellness with @moemoeproductions this Sunday at 1pm. Art Wellness will now be held every first and third Sundays of the month. All supplies are provided and it is free to attend! No experience required 🎨🫟

This weekend, @passengerradiowhck held its first live music event on our grounds at the Community Center in Hamtramck! The event was part of our Sound & Video Engineering Internship Initiative, and allowed for evening programming for folks in recovery and our general community in a supportive arena, celebrating music and connection above all else.
