Well… the 2026 Bayou Jamb event is officially in the books, and I’m pretty sure every part of my body knows it. 😂

Two days. 8 football games. 16 teams. Thousands of fans. Scholarship giveaways, community fun, Friday Night Lights, and more moving parts behind the scenes than most people will ever realize.

And somewhere in the middle of all of it, a bunch of us apparently decided that sleep, sitting down, and feeling our feet were completely optional. 😂

What people see is the finished product. The football. The lights. The teams. The bands. The fans. The excitement.

What they don’t always see is the incredible group of people behind it all.

Field operations. Fan experience. Production. Video. Logistics. Scholarships. Hospitality. And probably 100 other things I’m forgetting because, again… I’m tired. 😂

For some of this crew, Bayou Jamb is a year-round project. For a select few, the real push begins about 90 days out. Then the entire team comes together for two crazy, exhausting days when all that planning finally becomes reality.

That’s what makes this group so special. Everyone has a role. Everyone brings a different talent to the table. And when it’s time to get it done, people jump in wherever they’re needed.

There’s a tremendous amount of work behind an event like this, but there’s also something pretty special about standing there and watching it all come together.

Bayou Jamb is more than eight football games. It’s the unofficial signal that Friday Night Lights are BACK in Northeast Louisiana! 🏈

Proud to play my small part alongside this crazy, talented, hardworking crew.

PS. This was Owen Gabb, Jett Gabb & Colton Johnson’s first year with assigned roles and they did an amazing job, pretty cool to get to do this with them.

If a helmet could talk:

“Ive seen a lot of things in the time I’ve spent protecting my player.”

“When he first tried me on it was a great fit, something mystic, Like the kid was meant to wear me since he first played the game. “

“That first undefeated freshman season was more than a bunch of wins. Me and the other helmets would talk in the locker room and figured this group was a lil’ bit different. “

“Over the next three years, the teams each year faced a different type of adversity. The kind I’ve never seen from a Rebel helmet’s perspective. Yet Brodie and the gang never faltered. They kept showing up and kept banging!”

“Senior year. We get a new coach, new turf, fresh stickers, and a renewed hope for a trip to New Orleans.”
“Wow this kid got a lot stronger in the off season and felt like he was trying to kill me during fall camp!!! Lets Go! I got you Brodie.”

“I got a little worried at the Bayou Jamb when we took a hit in the earhole from that rival in red from Shreveport but he jumped right up and i knew he was as tough as me!”

“The year did not end in the Dome but at the Don in the 2nd round to a blue team. We made sure to trade some paint. The offensive coordinator will remember number 4.”

“The season had lots of high points! Had war with some back/ orange ones, some really big Trojans, and chased some very familiar chrome colored “O”. The district was strong. 4 of the 6 moved on to the 3rd round. Lots of respect all around and it was football played like those that came before me.”

“All of our cherished and dedicated teammates were right there with us along the way. 22,78,77,54,94,and so many more.”

“As you take me off one last time Brodie, please hear me.” “They may strip my decals, Sand me down, repaint me, and give me to another player. To the naked eye, nobody will look at me and know where i have been. But WE will. My scars are deep and will be with me forever. And I will NEVER forget where me and you have been.”

The bigs news is out! We are beyond excited (and a little nervous!) to officially launch Bayou Jamb Belles, the Official NFL Girls Flag league for North Louisiana! This is such a huge moment for girls’ sports in our area, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of one of the fastest-growing sports for young women.

Bringing this league to life has been a labor of love, and at the heart of it is a passion for giving back to girls—providing them with new opportunities, confidence, and a space to compete, grow, and shine. Flag football is taking off across the country, and now North Louisiana gets to be part of the movement!

Today, as we named the Rebel Pavilion after Coach Arledge, I am reminded of the profound, yet unique influence he has had on me.

The experience of working with Coach Arledge for 17 years in the Bayou Jamb is difficult to capture in words. Our friendship has not been one that followed a traditional course. There were times that his support and encouragement were evident, times where he questioned my decisions, times that he was a mentor, times he pushed me to think more
like a coach, times that he was a challenge to work with, times that he was a teacher of the game for me, times that he was too busy looking at film to talk, times where he was a father figure, times he instilled confidence in me and my decisions, and many, many years of my life serving as a trusted leader and “Coach” to my two boys in the Rebel program.

There is no doubt, of the profound impact he has made on me and my professional life. The facts are, he always understood my goal, he respected me, he cared enough to challenge me, and regardless of the information being delivered - he always communicated with me. Can you ask for more? I don’t think so. What a blessing I was given to have such an amazing career working with multiple legendary highly successful high school coaches, but Coach Arledge is special.
