Jiu-Jitsu Worlds. 🥋

We went to Las Vegas for IBJJF Master Worlds.

Over 6,000 people competed at Master Worlds, and roughly half of them don’t make it past their first match. Ryan did. ❤️ He ended up going 1–1. His second match didn’t go as planned, but I’m still so incredibly proud of him. You can’t win them all, and he knew he had a 6 year old looking at him, learning not only how to win a match gracefully, but also how to lose.

Watching the video of Ryan’s first match, I can’t help but laugh because you can hear our Eric screaming and coaching him on. 😂 He’s literally just repeating everything Coach PJ is saying, but it is one of my favorite things ever.

Then Ol’ William James; Uncle Bobo to 2/3 of my crew and Uncle Strawberry to Eric 😂🤷🏼‍♀️ was able to win ALL of his matches and brought home GOLD. He is officially a World Champion! 🥇🏆

I am so incredibly proud of him and his accomplishments. Hearing Eric scream in the video, “GO UNCLE STRAWBERRY, YOU DESERVE THIS!” was pretty dang precious. ❤️

Honestly, the whole ECGC crew did such an amazing job. I love seeing the love and support they have for Ryan and Eric in all situations. That kind of community is something really special.

Ryan: I hope you know how proud I am of you. ❤️

William: WORLD CHAMPION. You freaking did it. 🥇🏆 Our family already knows you are the world champion of changing flat tires on the side of the road and the best free mover 😂 just another accomplishment on the long list over the years.

Vegas. What a trip. ❤️

It’s taken me a while to find the words for this post. It was Eric’s first flight, and he was SO excited about it! ❤️

We got to explore Vegas with Eric, laugh until our stomachs hurt, make memories we’ll be talking about for a long time, and watch people we love chase big goals.

Vegas wasn’t just a trip. It was watching our people do something BIG.

I’m pretty sure that’s a weekend he’ll remember for a long, long time. by @christypea

Some people see a grey and white belt. I see two years of love, sacrifice, and people who believed in my little boy.

I see a dad who shared his passion for jiu-jitsu with his son, never missed a practice, and spent countless hours helping him at home.

I see Coach PJ and Uncle Bobo, who have been there since day one, encouraging him, challenging him, and celebrating every milestone.

And I see a little boy who’s growing into someone kind, confident, disciplined, and resilient.

Thank you, ECGC, for creating a culture and community that shapes these kids into better people, both on and off the mats. We’re forever grateful. ❤️🥋 by @christypea

On the way home from jiu jitsu tonight, Eric asked what I was doing for my birthday this weekend. He will be out of town with his grandparents, so I told him I didn’t really have any plans.

He immediately decided that wasn’t acceptable.

So we celebrated early with two of his favorite things: a trip to the library for new books and a McDonald’s Happy Meal.

I love that at 6 years old, his first thought was making sure someone he loves felt celebrated. He has the biggest heart.❤️❤️ by @christypea

Last game of his first 6U coach pitch season and they ended it with a 13-12 win ⚾️❤️
One of the closest games of the season, and somehow the thing that made me proudest had nothing to do with the score.

He got the “Most Likely to Be Everyone’s Friend in the Dugout” award 🥹
A sweet kid, a good teammate, and the kind of player every team needs. So proud of him.

And a huge thank you to all the family and friends who came out all season long to cheer him on, it meant more than you know. ❤️Sorry I didn’t get a photo with Uncle BoBo/Strawberry whatever they are calling him these days.😂 by @christypea
