I ❤️ TACOS!!! 🇲🇽

My two favorite foods are fresh tuna and street tacos! I like my tacos simple: meat, cilantro, onions and hot salsa.

My buddy Aldo who imports fishing gear to Mexico also owns the best taco shop in San Pedro, Nuevo León.

Thanks @estrella_carniceria for allowing me to get behind the counter for a night. They’ve got the best tacos in all of Mexico!!

Should I retire from pro fishing and open an Estrella in Fort Worth, Texas?? 🤔

Got the win in Mexico 🇲🇽

I flew down to Mexico last week and hopped in the El Currican Tournament on El Cuchillo. There’s about 150 boats with 3 individual anglers in each. Each person can have a 2 fish limit with no fish over 22”. I had just under 16 pounds for my two bass.

I love the fishing and micheladas in Mexico, and I plan to spend more time here as we introduce TFO fishing rods to all of Mexico through the distributor N9 Fishing Gear.

After the tournament, my buddy Tito hooked us up with some dove fun. By far the most action I’ve had in a day!

Life back in Texas 😅🦷

I had a few initial days of “me time” to dove hunt and spend time with friends, but what some call the “off season” is not really off for me. Each year gets busier and busier.

I installed a Mini Split A/C in our shop to counteract this heat so we could film new Bilge podcast episodes and work on a new project with my buddy Cliff Crochet.

It felt like year one on the elite series pulling wire to pay for entry fees ha. The schedule was tight to get the cool air flowing but we made it and have been filming hard the past 4 days. by @chriszaldain

Dogs, Dove & a Salvo 12 🕊️💥

Drove 27 hours from New York to my home in time for the opening of Dove Season. New York may have cooler weather and big smallmouth but it doesn’t have the fun that September 1st brings in Texas.

My first opener with a @silencerco Salvo 12. It is super light and made my 12 gauge feel like a .22.

Bassmaster Classic Qualified ✅

The new 50/50 format seemed to calm my psych down for the 2026 Season on the Elite Series where half the schedule was without Forward Facing Sonar. Instead of fighting my inner urge to ignore FFS, I knew when I had to rely on the technology and then could relax and have fun “old school” fishing without the pressures of how behind in weight I might potentially get. It worked out on both ends of the table for me.

Currently making a 27 hour drive back to Texas to see my wife, dogs and to make the opening of dove season.

Over the next few months we have several projects we are all in on. I have some really hard decisions to make, but what I do know is this year was fun on the water. I threw the swimbait a lot and learned how to power fish an urchin to adapt when the fish wouldn’t bite the swimmer.

Who knows what the future may bring.

New York in August 🫶🏽

It is nice to get away from the heat of Texas and up to New York to fish for giant northern smallmouth!

After the Champlain Bassmaster event, I stayed in town for the Bass Pro Media week with 10 other Elite Series anglers.

During media week, the group executed a concept for an unmanned livestream system. Did you catch “The Bass Pros Live” on the BPS @youtube? What did you think? I thoroughly enjoyed the tournament and am excited for the future.

Now it’s time for my final Elite tournament of the season. I am currently inside the Classic cut. My goal this week is a win on one of my favorite fisheries, Lake Ontario and the St Lawrence River. by @chriszaldain
