The word "fail" has so much weight behind it--maybe it brings to mind how our bodies have failed us. Maybe it carries the weight of people in our lives who have failed at loving us, or maybe doctors who failed at caring for us. Or maybe we jump to thinking of our own perceived failures. And the truth is, when it comes to love, we have all failed at some point because we are human. We have failed at loving ourselves--this is so hard! Maybe we couldn't live up to someone's expectations, maybe we lashed out or hurt them. And no matter the relationship, we will inevitably fall short and so will everyone in our lives because again we are sinful, fallen humans and we can't be perfect! But you know what-there is ONE and only one source of unfailing love and unfailing presence in our lives, and that is in God alone! Our God loves us through every sin, every bad moment, every time we stray. Our God loves us even when we brought him to the cross. Our God loves us when we lash out at him in pain. Our God's love is unconditional, unending, and UNFAILING. So remember today---no matter how much of our life seems to be so unsteady, so easy to fail us, so uncertain, so scary, so full of failures from our side or others--We have God who is meant to fill those holes. No human relationship is perfect because it can't live up to what we desire, which is God's love. I know this passage encouraged me tonight that no matter what, no matter how many times we have failed or will mess up or a part of our life is just tearing us down, our bodies are failing, whatever it is--be encouraged that God's love will NEVER end and NEVER fail. He is near, he is with you, and He loves you more than you could ever imagine!

Sometimes you get glimpses of your old self, the self that is funny and joyful and full of life and loves messing around with her family and being crazy. That was me yesterday. no migraine, hanging out with my family, laughing and dancing and joking and being "normal" with my brothers-it felt wonderful. I always wonder when things like that happen if I'll ever be "me" again every day. I can only hope and pray and do what's in my power but wow do I miss those days, when smiles came easy and life was loud and fun and not focused on symptoms every second but on family and quality time. The chronic illness, chronic pain version of me is like a gray, muted version. Pain takes more of a toll than we even realize sometimes.

Same with POTS and lots more...even to this day, 3 years since my first seizure, my doctors don't believe me when I say I have had a seizure....why does this happen? Why does it take multiple ER trips to believe it? Why does everything amount to anxiety or overthinking when I'm literally falling over? Crazy how many times I have been right after they actually run the tests we ask for!

There are so many cycles I could add to this but wanted to share a few that came to mind! Chronic illness creates so many issues when we try to do things we love, see those we love, or simply exist normally. Good doctors are hard to come by. Treatments like exercise are thrown at us without understanding our limits. It's wild how punishing things are to our bodies when we are just fighting to exist! Anyways, let me know in the comments what sort of cycles you experience or if you relate!

This post is to show some of the mental things that come with chronic illness, especially when it drastically changes the lives of both you and those close to you. I tended to always be the helpful one so it has been strange to be on the other side and not feel out of place.
I talk about this in the last slides but to reiterate, it is NOT to say you should feel guilty about any of this, or burdensome, or any of that...just the realities of how it can feel. Trying to survive is the best we can do-and I know you're doing the best you can so do not add feeling guilty to your plate!
