🇬🇧Maybe being kinda chic is just building a life where being yourself isn’t a problem to solve. 🎀

Having a pink car and not caring if someone thinks it’s stupid. Saying hi to trees when no one is watching. Studying because sometimes you have to find your own answers. Making grandma shoes look cute because your feet have other priorities. Learning another language because you want to start somewhere new.

Some of these things are silly, some aren’t silly at all. They just have one thing in common: I do them because they make sense to me.

I spent enough time wondering if I was too much, too weird, too different or simply doing life wrong.

Now I’d rather make it mine.

And that’s kinda chic. 🎀

🇮🇹 Forse essere kinda chic significa semplicemente costruire una vita in cui essere se stessi non è un problema da risolvere. 🎀

Avere una macchina rosa e fregarsene se qualcuno pensa che sia stupida. Salutare gli alberi quando nessuno guarda. Studiare perché a volte le risposte devi cercartele da sola. Rendere carine le scarpe da nonnetta perché i tuoi piedi hanno altre priorità. Imparare un’altra lingua perché vuoi ricominciare da qualche altra parte.

Alcune di queste cose sono stupide, altre non lo sono per niente. Hanno solo una cosa in comune: le faccio perché per me hanno senso.

Ho passato abbastanza tempo a chiedermi se fossi troppo, troppo strana, troppo diversa o se stessi semplicemente vivendo nel modo sbagliato.

Adesso preferisco rendere questa vita mia.

One of the hardest parts of chronic illness is that sometimes people don’t believe you.

Because pain doesn’t always look like pain.

Sometimes it looks like makeup, pink hair, matching colours and a selfie.

But it’s still there.

Always.

Anyway, I’m going back to pretending heartshaped sunglasses are just an aesthetic choice. 😎💀

Molti mesi fa non sapevo se ce l’avrei fatta ad affrontare il viaggio, quindi ho deciso che dovevo farlo e basta. Ho prenotato 3 mesi e mezzo da gennaio, poi ho deciso di provare a fare un viaggio anche prima (e magari beccare il foliage)… quindi eccomi a Vienna! Sono con mia madre (da sola non potrei mai viaggiare) e Dorian 💕.
Non vi ho detto niente e sono partita ieri. Starò qui per 15 giorni dove vedrò anche delle case e avrò una visita medica per la questione me/cfs e mcas🤞Tornerò a Roma proprio per il @bukromance dove mi troverete con i miei colleghi @samsam_storie e @mork_sikt

Oggi sono a pezzi, ma sono qui 💪
E Dorian è stato molto bravo durante il viaggio 🐶.
Ora sono curiosa di andare a vedere qualche libreria 😍😌.

Cosa posso fare per “risolvere il problema”?
Dopo il reel di ieri su @chronicallypastel mi sono chiesta se posso fare di più per questa causa dell’invalidità invisibile…

Sto scrivendo un romance che affronterà questa tematica (Shadowban) e spero che molti riusciranno a leggerlo, aiuto costantemente da 10 anni altre persone nei gruppi a collegare i tasselli e ad arrivare a una diagnosi… ne parlo qui per cercare di far sentire meno sole le persone che vivono questa realtà…

Cosa altro potrei fare da casa? Fatemelo sapere nei commenti 💕

P.S. ora ricomincio a scrivere Shadowban, anche se sono in un periodo terribile 💀💕.

🇬🇧What can I do to “help solve the problem”?

After yesterday’s reel on @chronicallypastel , I started wondering if there’s more I could do to advocate for people living with invisible disabilities…

I’m writing a romance novel that will tackle this very issue (Shadowban), and I really hope it will reach as many readers as possible. For the past 10 years, I’ve also been constantly helping people in support groups connect the dots and find their way to a diagnosis… and I talk about my experience here in the hope of making people who live with this reality feel a little less alone.

What else could I do from home? Let me know in the comments 💕

P.S. Now I’m getting back to writing Shadowban, even though I’m going through an absolutely terrible period 💀💕

🇬🇧Every time I’m forced to go somewhere with no paid parking, it ends like this: a parking ticket.

Because here in Italy, if you have a chronic illness like ME/CFS or Fibromyalgia, chances are you don’t qualify for disability benefits — which means you’re not entitled to use disabled parking spaces either. But unfortunately, being able to walk isn’t something you can just switch on when you need it, and getting around Rome is a nightmare. So sometimes you just take the risk, park, and hope for the best.

Anyway, I parked in a spot where everyone always parks and where you’re not actually bothering anyone (today there were another 16 cars parked in front of mine — every single one of them got a ticket 😂).

I’m just never lucky.

Still, €29 for unlimited parking is almost a bargain considering how much parking costs in some areas. 😂

🇮🇹Ogni volta che sono costretta ad andare in un posto dove non ci sono parcheggi a pagamento finisce così: multa.
Perché qui in Italia se hai una malattia cronica come ME/CFS o Fibromialgia, quasi sempre non hai invalidità e quindi nessun diritto a parcheggiare nei posti per disabili. Ma non è che la forza di camminare arriva a comando e Roma è un incubo per spostarsi, quindi rischi la multa e parcheggi.
Comunque ho parcheggiato in un posto dove si mettono sempre tutti, dove non si dà fastidio a nessuno(oggi erano parcheggiate altre 16 macchine davanti a me, tutte multate). A me dice sempre male

Comunque 29€ per tempo indeterminato è quasi un affare visto i prezzi dei parcheggi in certe zone .
