A bold platform for ambitious women with chronic conditions. ✨

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Advocacy is often framed as awareness work: sharing stories, speaking on panels. putting a face to a condition.

But as Jessica March writes in her latest piece for the Chronic Boss Hub, advocacy can and should go much further than that.

Chronic illness advocates ask different questions, notice gaps others miss, and design systems that actually work in real life, not just on paper.

When people living with chronic illness are invited into decision-making spaces, the conversation changes, and strategy is taken to another level.

If you're an aspiring advocate or want to create space in leadership for those with chronic illness, this is a perspective worth reading.

Chronic Bosses are redefining what it means to pursue ambition alongside chronic conditions, finding ways to honor our health without putting our dreams and goals on the back burner.

This is the reality for so many women with chronic illnesses:

Work gets done in spurts of energy.

Ideas are explored between appointments.

Some wait years to return to work, dreaming and planning the whole time.

Progress might be slower, but it’s intentional and fueled by a strong desire to make a difference.

✨ This is what ambition looks like when your health is part of the equation.

Happy Boss’s Day to the woman who is the CEO, the HR department, and the person who approves her own time off.

Nobody is sending you a card or taking you to lunch today, so we’ll say it. You took the leap and built a business around a body with Crohn’s, POTS, or lupus that doesn’t check the calendar first, and you became the boss you always needed. The kind who schedules client calls around infusion days and never asks for a doctor’s note.

Meet our newest columnist Eleanor Hicks 💫

Eleanor lives with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), and after her diagnoses she realized that the usual business and leadership advice was leaving her more tired, frustrated, and alienated. Her new Hub column, Capacity-First Leadership, is written for the ambitious woman whose brain, temperament, and body don’t run on the schedule the workplace assumes, and it gets into how she leads, how she decides, and how she shows up. Eleanor pairs research with her own lived experience, and every piece is built to give you something you can put to work. Lilly Stairs was 19 when she was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis and Crohn’s disease. She went on to found two companies, Patient Authentic and Chronic Boss.

Today is World Arthritis Day. The Arthritis Foundation reports that two-thirds of adults with arthritis are under 65, which means most are living with it right in the middle of the building years, alongside the first big job, the first client, the first launch.

So if you’re running a business with RA, psoriatic arthritis, or lupus, yes, your joints get a vote in the calendar. AND the planning you do around them is how a flare-proof business gets built ✨

You moved the launch because of infusion day, took the client call from the couch, and blocked off Friday before the week even started because you know what a week like this one costs.

That’s ambition the way we know it. The launch gets planned around the flare, the calendar has room built in on purpose, and the doors still open. Health gets the front seat AND you’re still the one driving, which is how health and wealth end up in the same business.

You didn't lower the goal when you got the diagnosis. You changed the hours, the client load, and the way you plan a launch, and you kept going after the same thing. by @chronicbossco

Ann Marie Poch got to the pharmacy five minutes after it closed, the night before an early flight to California.

How she handled it is in her new Hub guide, along with everything a decade of traveling with chronic health symptoms has taught her. There's the packed lunchbox her husband thought was "a little extra" until he saw what the flight was serving, the aisle seat she books every time, and her mom's rule to pack half the stuff and bring twice the money.

Most of us know the trip that goes fine and then costs weeks of recovery. Travel asks more of our bodies, AND planning for that is how we keep saying yes to the conference, the client visit, and the vacation ✨

October is National Women's Small Business Month, and we're raising a glass to the woman who is the founder, the bookkeeper and the marketing department, usually before lunch.

You sent the invoice you were nervous to send, raised your rates, and turned an idea in your notes app into a business with your name on it. You kept it running through the weeks nobody saw, and that part deserves celebrating too.

Cheers to your health and wealth. ✨ by @chronicbossco

Last summer, over dinner at Lolita in Boston, Lilly pulled out her phone, ran the math on Beth Ann Hart's rates, and told her she was undervaluing herself. Beth Ann has since tripled her salary and is on track for multiple six figures in 2027, and that dinner is where her $100K goal stopped being a pipe dream.

She became a mom at 19, was back at work three weeks after her daughter was born, and bought her first house at 21. Today she runs Hart Health Consulting & Co while raising two kids with a husband who's an active-duty Air Force pilot, gone about 70% of the year.

Beth Ann has lived with anxiety since childhood and only started treating it last year, AND she's having the biggest year of her career in the same season. Health and wealth, no tradeoffs.

If you're the founder who suspects she's charging too little, play this one before your next proposal goes out 💖

Saying yes to everything comes with consequences if you forget to take care of yourself. For Beth Ann, that meant learning what anxiety looks like in her own life and getting serious about protecting her mental and emotional state as the opportunities stacked up. As she put it, "If I'm not taking care of myself, I'm not taking care of my children, I'm not taking care of my clients."

If this is your yes year too, keep saying it AND give your own care the same weight you give client work, because your health and wealth grow together. 💖
