What's a hot summers day for other than sitting in front of a fan and catching up on 6 months of posting?

Here's a quilt I made late last year for a friend who'd lost her bestest little buddy. I secretly snagged a bunch of her photos from her online accounts and used the Prym printable fabric to make the blocks with his face.

As far as the printing quality goes, I'd give it a 6/10. The saturation and contrast just weren't there. If you zoom in on the single block you can see faint lines that aren't in the digital photo and didn't appear when I printed into paper to check the resolution. I calibrated the printer multiple times and nothing changed. If there are any sewists out there who have used this stuff successfully, chime in on where I might have gone wrong.

It's recipient seemed pretty happy and serves its purpose as a snuggly reminder of one of the bestest boys ♥️

Side note:- quilting on a domestic machine not designed for that task might be one of the fastest ways to have your institutionalised. by @chrubuky

Earlier this year this legend dragged me to Iceland. I'd run out of gift ideas after celebrating 25 relentless years of birthdays, so I offered to make her a jumper to wear on our trip.

She chose this pattern, the Lakeside Lopapeysa from the book "Lopapeysa: A Knitter's Guide to Iceland with Patterns, Techniques and Travel Tips". It's a fabulous book. An absolute must read for people who like fibre arts and are traveling to Iceland.

It was pretty chilly in May and so it got quite the workout. Here it is looking fabulous in front of Snaefellsnesjökull National Park, then hunting for puffins at Lóndrangar (with no luck), then enjoying breakfast at Aurora Lodge in Hvolsvöllur, and finally gorging on tomato everything in the famous Friðheimar restaurant within a greenhouse. by @chrubuky

I was lucky enough to spend a few weeks in Iceland earlier this year, and I was blown away by the range of yarn that was available, sometimes in the most unexpected places, like tiny petrol stations or grocery shops.

As a souvenir from there, I asked everyone in my family to choose an Icelandic jumper that they'd like me to make them for this winter. My husband chose this pattern designed by @vedisj - who designs the most wonderful patterns - called Borg min Borg (City, my city).

It's been 3 weeks since it was finished and he's worn it every day, so I'd say he's very happy with his choice.

I'm in the middle of a pretty deep love affair with Icelandic wool. It's fabulous to knit with, has incredible loft and warmth, and it wears very well. There will be many, many more lopayesa in my future ❤️

A couple of weeks of knitting between all the essentials of life and I have a nice collection of Christmas balls for our tree this year.

I used patterns produced by the family @arnecarlos and their IG, website and Ravelry are full of dozens of different patterns for these things. I used yarn I had kicking around for years. No ball bands, different gauges, it was all a bit of a gamble, but I think they look just fine.

I'd like to say I'm ready for 2025, but honestly 2024 has been a lot. So I'll be curled up on the couch for a bit longer drinking tea, eating mince pies and pretending it's Boxing Day for a bit longer.

I was so lucky to find one of Melanie Sterba's Takeaway Art sculptures waiting on a bollard for me to find him in Zurich yesterday. It was a real moment of joy in what has otherwise been a really sad and difficult period of time for me.

Melanie is an artist, sculptor and stonemason (her work in marble will blow your mind) who has been running a project to release her small metal people into the world. You can follow her adventures with tiny people on @takeaway.art . They are the most wonderful of surprises with a deeply important message attached.

I'll delete this post if I ever get around to photographing this properly.

I just finished the #montpellierslipover (whose name makes me think of falling over every time I say it 🤦🏻‍♀️) by @novemberknits It's an easy pattern with cool armhole shaping details joining to make ribbing down the side. The only mod was the neck. It's supposed to have a long, fold over or funnel neck but anything around my neck irritates me so I swapped it for something I'm more likely to wear.

It was knit with 3 strands of mystery yarn held together that can with one of my knitting machines.

Posting to keep me focused on the #whole10000yards project.

I've made a total of 6 extra Cat Love hats (pattern by @sweaterfreak )and they are with, or on their way, to their new owners. That's another 1200 yards added to my total and 6 heads that will be warmer this winter.

It's been a big week. My baby turned 13. She epic. Fierce beyond description. Better than the sum of her parts. She's definitely getting ready to fly. I will soak up every minute we have until then. Love you Bear xo by @chrubuky
