Pamela Anderson:
Everyone calls her a tramp. Everyone says she is why every American woman hates her body. She is called the modern-day Marilyn Monroe. Since she is has the "perfect body," being attracted to her almost means you have no creativity. We hate seeing what we consider to be the perfect body type in real life. Anderson embodies female sexuality; she is a physical symbol of everything men find attractive. She's the realest sex icon we've ever had.
She represents the decline of American morality and emptiness of modern relationships. Modern relationships are SO boring. Romance doesn't even exist anymore. No one dresses up nicely for dates anymore, men no longer bring flowers or write cute poems, and there is no more good, wholesome dancing. by @chuck_klosterman

All of these movies beg the question, "What is reality?" Vanilla Sky-
This question is broken down into objectivity vs. reality. In the movie, Cameron Diaz finds out that Tom cruise has been cheating on her and goes crazy. She tries to kill them both by driving a car off a cliff; Diaz dies but Cruise survives and pursues a relationship with Cruz. But Diaz may still be alive. Or maybe she and Cruise are the same person. Or maybe neither of them ever existed. Cruise is left to choose between a fake world that seems real or a real world that is miserable.
The Matrix-
Everything we THINK we are experiencing is actually a computer-generated illusion. The matrix suggests that everything we experiencing is just collective dream shared by the whole world. Nobody is actually alive but nobody knows that they aren't. Neo is forced to choose between living in reality or fantasy. Reality may be hard to bear but, on the other hand, "unreality" is ignorant bliss. In these movies, ignorance and existence become synonymous.
Reality does not evolve with you. If you drastically change your personality, it seems as though your reality has changed as well, but in fact, the only thing that has changed is your perception of a world that has remained completely the same.
Both men (Neo and Tom) choose genuine reality. What they fail to realize is that both options are identical because everything we want out of life can be achieved within either realm. by @chuck_klosterman

Star Wars poses an important question about morality. In the movie, Luke Skywalker is faced with a choice to either pursue a battle he is bound to lose, or compromise his ethics to gain wealth and success. This is an age-old question we face on a daily basis: should I cheat on the test and get a good grade or should I do what is right, but not get as good a grade? Adults usually choose to compromise their values while children often make the 'righteous decision.'
People pursue paths that seem grim and depressing, but they do so because they have faith that they will somehow make it through; this is the path that the Jedi took. We learn something very real from Yoda. There is no value in effort itself. In life, you either succeed or you don't. by @chuck_klosterman

Cereal commercials allow kids to figure out what's cool and what's not. One rule of thumb: anything desirable should be avoided. This philosophy is what created the hipster.
Coolness is merely what everyone else seems to have, and what we must somehow steal for ourselves, through trickery. Sonny the Cuckoo Bird tries to obtain what he wants but can't have (cocoa puffs), by trickery as well, only he is tricking himself, by means of distraction.
The most difficult part about said coolness is that it is not a definitive quality; there is no source to defines what is cool and what is not. Sonny the Cuckoo Bird is simply a microcosm for coolness and what that entails. by @chuck_klosterman

The only thing people aspire to be nowadays is cool. Billy Joel, is not cool in the typical sense, nor is he is so uncool that he's cool. He is, however great. He is one of the few artists whose greatness is independent of his potential coolness. His work wouldn't be better even if he was cooler, and the fact that he isn't doesn't affect it. This is unique since he is, after all, a rockstar, and being a rockstar greatly involves being cool. Billy Joel is not someone who is adored for something other than his music. Billy Joel is is just a guy. by @chuck_klosterman

The Real World: an MTV series that is a microcosm for the United Nations, with each 'leader' trying to convince the others to recognize their right to exist. Every cast member wants the spotlight on them.
Real world personalities have become the only available personalities for young people to have. The archetypes created by the show have become the normal way for people to behave. Some of these template personalities include the hard-working genius, the likeable anti-itellectual, the bad catholic, the sensitive liberal, the racial stereotype, and the full-throated homosexual--every member casted was intended to fit a highly specific personality type. by @chuck_klosterman

In "The Sims," you do all the things you would do in real life if you weren't playing a game. It promotes consumerism and therefore the idea that happiness is available at the mall. The happiness of the characters is directly proportional to the products you buy for them. Perhaps people enjoy buying things because it takes their mind off of being alive. The more you play, the more you realize that all the stuff you but eventually breaks down and creates all these little explosions in your life, and that even free people are eternally enslaved by the processes of living. #materialism by @chuck_klosterman

People measure relationships against the prospect of fake love. We fall in love with actors who we assume are the exact same people off-screen as they are in movies when they are portraying characters that don't exist. This kind of love is unattainable, similar to Barbie's figure. Little girls play with Barbie and will inevitably measure their own bodies against the prospect of manufactured perfection. by @chuck_klosterman

Woody Allen: the nerdy, seemingly intellectual goofball. The media has made it so that the "Woody Allen personality type" has become culturally more important that the man himself. To attain this personality type, all a male has to do is create the illusion of intellectual humor, and he has has a chance at dating a beautiful woman, since this is apparently the kind of man they desire. by @chuck_klosterman
